JURASSIC PARK III's mid-week opening day looks to have been very successful. The estimated tally for the film's opening gross is said to be in the $19M range. If it stays on track, the weekend to come to should see the film raking in the big bucks.
Of course, Universal is happy about this, with the studio's distribution prez Nikki Rocco sayimg, "That's a great start. It's an event film, and our expectations are for blockbuster status."
Though the odds are good that the film will land on the weekend top spot, JP III will still have to contend with Sony/Revolution Studio's AMERICA'S SWEETHEARTS, starring Julia Roberts and John Cusack. One should never underestimate a summer chick flick.
