I think you're on to something, lazarus.  Maybe do a World's Finest, then do a movie with the "DC Trinity" as they're referred to, maybe with some cameos or hints at other heroes in the world, then a JLA movie.

Wiseguy 10/19/2012 2:20:05 PM

The World's Finest and Trinity ideas have been bandied about here by many folk already. Obviously WB wants JL first since that has never even been a rumor til now.

And WB isn't running scared. Sure the money Avengers made may have lit a fire under them but they've been trying to get a JL film together since 06-07, well before The Avengers. So it isn't like this is coming up out of the blue.

I think a bigger reason for them to get serious and try again is the end of the Harry Potter franchise. Many have speculated about WB trying to find a replacement for that cash cow. Why not look within instead of trying to adapt the latest teen novel.

it's not epic stupid to go against avengers. the same people that will watch avengers will watch JL. the two films will be making box ofice madness record braking ..the world will come out to see this epic mash up, i  know i will be going to se the two films fuck yesss..

If the long jump approach to the finish line works, then more power to WB and DC...just seems like a huge gamble to bypass baby steps.  A good live action JLA movie would be awesome.

And, if that doesn't work, we can always spin them off into bad cable oblivion.

Wiseguy 10/19/2012 2:40:27 PM

I think a JL film has a chance of breaking Avengers records. Imagine a Bats/Supes team-up finally and then add finally a heavy weight female superhero for the first time in Wonder Woman who doesn't take a backseat to neither of those 2. I can sense the tension between Bats and Supes already as they approach things from different perspectives. The word EPIC is over used and abused but it applies here 100%.

Even if it doesn't break records it'll be HUGE.

I can see them going for a total different tone than the Avengers which will distinguish it by avoiding most of the comic relief even though IMO that isn't necessary.

violator check out superherohype They have an update on Deadpool. Apparently it's still in the works and moving forward now that there were some changes over at Fox studios

I agree, Wiseguy, "Epic" definitely applies here...and I'm truly hoping it applies to an epic win instead of the alternative...just hard for some of us to envision something besides solo movie build-up working to establish an epic win.  Here's hoping.

Random Thought - when DC movies don't precisely follow DC comics, to DC fans think it's a...Crisis?  Uh huh huh.

Wiseguy 10/19/2012 3:22:24 PM

Yeah I tend to be overly positive for this kind of stuff but I just don't think WB is going to rush a JL film unless they're confident they have a winner. As much as some of you like to pile on WB they know better than to ruin not 1 franchise with a bad JL film but all the individual franchises so we're talking at least 7 going by the original line up.

They've been at it for years so I believe it when they say they love the script. Can the movie fail? of course it can just like The Avengers or any of the films that led to it. Fans can be and are a finicky bunch

These are the sort of news that make my mouth water and get me amped up.

Yeah some DC fans think they've been suffering through a crisis for years. Me? I can be more patient and especially since WB/DC re-aligned their studio and how they'd go about adapting their characters. GL was the first and although a misstep I don't think it spells doom for the grander plans. Nolan films were really a separate animal outside of the DCU

Man I'm excited......I hope it's not another false start
