Justice League Movie Announced

Officially, finally

By Robert T. Trate     April 28, 2014

I think many of us already thought that the Man of Steel sequel, Batman vs. Superman, would officially be titled: The Justice League. After all, isn’t everyone already in the film?

The Wall Street journal has broken the exclusive news that Warner Brothers plans to release a Justice League movie before 2018. Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Gal Gadot are expected to return, with Zack Snyder to direct.

From the Wall Street Journal:

Confirming the studio’s plans for a movie based on its iconic super-team for the first time, Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman said the studio has set plans to make a ‘Justice League’ movie.

Like ‘Man of Steel’ and its follow-up, which starts production next month, ‘Justice League’ will be directed by Zack Snyder. Henry Cavill is expected to return as Superman, along with Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot, who play Batman and Wonder Woman, respectively, in 2016’s ‘Man of Steel’ sequel tentatively titled “Batman vs. Superman.”

‘It will be a further expansion of this universe,’ said Mr. Silverman. ’Superman vs Batman’ will lead into ‘Justice League.’

A script is still in development and Warner has not set a release date, though the movie is unlikely to come out before 2018. Mr. Silverman would not comment on what other heroes might join Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman in the movie. However the studio has recently been casting the role of Cyborg, a half-robotic hero who is expected to have a cameo in “Batman vs. Superman” and then appear in “Justice League.” Other DC heroes who have been in Justice League comic books include Aquaman, Flash and Green Lantern.

We know that Zack Snyder can do an assemble movie. I think that a lot more now rides on delivering Batman vs. Superman. IF that films fails to deliver, Warner Brothers and DC Comics will have a taken another step backwards .

Again, why the rush? Take your time Warner Brothers, Marvel did, and look at the results.

Sounds good to me.

But all the MoS haters will be chiming in soon. Not sure why though. All they have to do is just not see the movies and everything will be fine for them. Let those of us who enjoyed MoS and are looking forward to Batman vs. Superman have our fun. I'm not saying I know for sure the sequel and JL movie will be good but without seeing anything of it I have no reason to be negative.

"The Justice League",,,oooo I like it; it's sounds grounded and all dark and gritty.  Shocked as hell Snyder is helmed to direct, didn't see that coming.

I liked Man of Steel. Though flawed, it still captured a good story of a rookie Superman learning how to deal with his powers and facing his first world-saving challenge. The current Superman of the comics is not Chris Reeves, and is definitely in line with what was presented with this movie. Anyway, I have high hopes for these movies and hope they continue to entertain.

Unfortunately, DC is in a no-win situation as far as planning and marketing. They will always be compared to Marvel. It'll either be "Marvel didn't do it that way" or "I see they're copying Marvel".

The only thing they can (and should) do is focus on is making a great product. I remain hopeful.

Totally agree with you HomestarRunner!

Has anyword been said about the possiblilty of the GA and Flash TV worlds exsiting in this same world?

I don't know if I qualify as one of the "MoS haters" as monkeyfoot put it but I was disappointed by that movie. I think it could have been so much better if certain obvious holes had been plugged (Why didn't Superman consult the Jor-el hologram before confronting the Kryptonians? He would have learned how to defeat them sooner.) or if there were more chemistry between him and Lois or if the makers didn't make illogical things happen just to depict widespread destruction (a small invulnerable body hurtling into a build would put a hole in it, not cause it to collapse) or…well, I could go on but here's my point: while it wasn't ALL bad, it barely made more than Thor:The Dark World did domestically (or totally) and that should send signals that something's wrong. Superman done right would have creamed Thor. Zack Snyder might be a good filmmaker but I don't think he's a great one. I would love to see a GREAT JSA movie. I'm just skeptical that this will be great in his hands. It will make money, no doubt because its a first, it has all these iconic heroes together and many people don't care if it's video-game-thin on plot or characterization. And because it will make money, my complaints and any others' will likely be ignored. I don't think that I'm a "hater" (if there's one overused term, it's that one) but I'd just like to see these movie made as well, as or better than the Marvel Movies have been. Is that hating?

Just whispers here and there. Stephen Amnell admitted to the possibility and having a conversation with someone in WB management for the possibility. But at this point, who knows?

The above was for kinectoscope.
