Justin Hartley will play Oliver Queen or Green Arrow in the coming season of SMALLVILLE. The story arc will apparently last at least seven episodes.

The executive producer of SMALLVILLE, Alfred Gough, the upcoming season to TV Guide, saying, "He will start to form the nascent Justice League. He's trying to find like-minded people with special powers and put a more formal structure in place. Ultimately Clark will see the value of what he is trying to do but as he's gotten older, Clark has become more cautious. He will always be there to help out, but he doesn't want to be part of a formalized organization".

Hartley played the role of AQUAMAN in Millar and Gough's Pilot.

Cool. I like seeing different DC Universe characters in SMALLVILLE. It's fun. Even if they do have kinda lame moments like "Junior Lifeguard Association" with Arthur Curry. The Vic Stone ep was kinda weak too, but all the same, it's still a nice thing to see.

BTW, why didn't they cast the dude who played Arthur Curry in the Aquaman pilot instead of this guy? Other than the fact that the previous actor had an amazing dearth of talent...

They should have cast that dude. I mean what else was he doing. I guess that`s kind of a mute point now though.

I also like the fact that they throw in DC characters into Smallville. It may not meet with the fanboys approval, but who cares. Smallville is a good show and has only gotten better. I hope that it continues to. I would really really like to see a cameo by a young Bruce Wayne. He can be an old school friend of Lex`s. He doesn't have to be Batman, but just him being there in Metropolis would be awesome. I know they were going to do it, but didn't because of Batman Begins, but there`s no reason not to do it now.

I like this idea and like GA. However, if they're deciding to have billionaire Oliver Queen around for 7 episodes, bringing on Bruce Wayne at a later date might just seem like treading on old ground. Surely this puts BW on the shelf for good?

true, but if they are doing the JLA thing, BW didn't even want to have anything to do with it.

It would be cool to even just mention him or Wayne Enterprises. Wayne Enterprises could be one of Lexcorps main competitors.

I was under the impression that it was very difficult for Smallville to get permission to use certain characters, Bruce Wayne/Batman being one of them. I also remember reading that that's why Lois is only on for 13 episodes each season, they weren't allowed to have her for more.

Really? That`s pretty weird. I mean, I thought Warner Bros would have carte blanche as far as characters go. Maybe they have a list of characters they can use and those that they can't. Then there is the fact that some of these characters just don't fit with the story arcs they do. Like I don't think they will have someone like the Green Lantern anytime soon or Wonder Woman.

Cyborg? Check. Flash (Bart Allen)? Check. Aquaman? Check. Green Arrow? Check.

Seriously...pull in Bruce Wayne or even Diana into the picture. They could easily put in Bruce Wayne and end up doing a spinoff of him. It could be like back in the days with Buffy and Angel.

I'll be upset if they bring in some lame character like Red Tornado before they bring in Bruce Wayne..

I thought GA was a bit of a loner and wasn't a big fan of "formal structure." I like that Smallville drops in these heroes now and again.

I'm all for this. And I honestly have no problem with them NOT tossing Bruce into the mix. Besides, if you have to pick between Oliver and Bruce to start a JLA, Oliver would probably be the more likely, wouldn't he?

I know they were discussing a Bruce Wayne series, and it would still work, but tying it into the Smallville universe feels a little flimsy.

I could see them bringing in a bad-special-effects Beast Boy to round out the group. Or someone simple, like a Black Canary or the Atom.

I hope they can get back some of the other heros Clark has encountered for this episode. Or at the very least, mention them. I don't follow DC Comics that closely, does Green Arrow have any powers, or is he just a good archer?
