Justin Long has signed on to join Bruce Willis in the upcoming film, DIE HARD 4, according to IESB.net.

IESB.net writes, "While the official announcement is expected within the next few days, the IESB can confirm that he is in the final stages of his negotiations. He will either play the son of John McClane, of course, reprised by Bruce Willis or a computer hacker that he teams up with."

"We're as close as we've ever got to getting Die Hard 4 started," Willis said of the film a couple months ago. "It won't be called Die Hard 4 but that will be the story. Hopefully it will be out next summer."

A rumored working title was Die Hard 4: Die Hardest, but that will probably change in the near future if the project gets underway again.

The original Die Hard hit theaters in 1988.

Die Hard 4: Just Die Already!
Damn, every hero in Hollywood now is going to have a kid. Superman, Indiana Jones, John McClane. Anyone else?
I love the Die Hard flicks. Hopefully they go the hacker route.

ponyboy76, John McClane's two kids were established in the first film - you know that.

I think it appropriate we see them as teenagers or young adults at this point. The son a hacker and daughter in college studying medicine or something would work for me.

I am used to seeing Justin Long in comedies (Dodge Ball, Galaxy Quest, and the Mac commercials...) haven't seen him in a serious action role, curious to see how he translates. Course' the world was skeptical of comedian Bruce Willis (Moonlighting) doing an action film....

Old, or aging, action heroes can work if it his handled well. Clint Eastwood proved it in The Unforgiven. The main character was clearly past his prime, and it showed, but he still managed to wreak havoc one last time. Eastwood succeeded by showing the viewer the toll that the lifestyle had taken on the character. Unfortunately Die Hard 4 seems more likely to attempt to show aging with a Lethal Weaponesque, "I'm getting too old for this sh*t."

Wait I got it 'Another Lethal Weapon' Starring Mel Gibson and Nick Nolte. The plot goes as follows. Two washed up over the hill middle aged hanger-ons take on crime by getting really, really drunk getting arrested , be-rating officers , taking awful mug-shot photos oh wait that really happened! I say to Bruce its not to late to get hammerd slap around Kutchner for didling the ex. We know he takes some lousy pictures or is that make lousy pictures?

You are totally right Browbeat. I was just complaining for complainings sake. I actually don't mind the teenage kid thing as long as its done well. I am not a fan of the infant kid thing, only because there is not much for them to do , but be vulnerable and bring out the heroes vulnerability.

And I would definitely not go that faf Dax0761,Bruce Willis is still a good actor. He was good in Hostage, 16 Blocks, and Sin City. He definitely seems to play the beaten down, older reluctant hero type really well.
Gibson is a whole other story, because he hasn't done anything lately.
Did anyone see Justin Long in the Break Up? That was definitely not one of his "normal" roles.

I agree with what you are saying except that Long was in Jeepers Creepers. Not exactly anything to write home about it was different from the comedies he has done. Although now that I think about it...

I know Pony I have loved every Die Hard movie , I just think the studios wait to long sometimes to make sequels. Then they add a younger person and people get all worked up. I think its a good idea if an older actor passes the torch but when they do all of these stupid remakes(accept Batman Begins) with different actors playing classic roles it really bugs me!! Like Miami Vice sorry Michael Mann . I have been a hugh supporter . I Think Manhunter was the best Hannibal film but this was the last straw. Please Bruce get this movie out!!

Justin Long is a great young talent. He was terrific in the much too short lived "ED" and I've enjoyed every role he's played. He'll definitely bring a comedic touch to the movie. The Die Hard movies a re always fun, so I look forward to the next chapter.

I hope this is the source of the Justin Timberlake rumors that made the round a while back. Hopefully, someone just got their Justins confused. I think Long will be great.
