It's not that often that you hear the Japanese companies talking about how to really embrace the digital future and there's certainly no clear cut path for it. But adding one more company to the mix that is looking at new ways of doing things while believing the traditional methods won't last much longer, Tsuguhiko Kadokawa of Kadokawa Holdings talked with BusinessWeek about the plans the company has to delve into a partnership with YouTube with its own channel. Kadokawa's efforts, though small, are interesting in that they're reaching out to the fans that are online and seeking to work with them to try and utilize their passion for their shows to raise awareness of them and find new methods of profitability through it.

I'm not sure why you sound surprised about "one more company" joining the bandwagon - Kadokawa has been working with Youtube for the last year, have been talking about revenue sharing since January and have had their own "channel" on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/KADOKAWAanime)

"Kadokawa Group Holdings Inc announced Jan 25, 2008, that it will operate new businesses including advertisement serving on the "YouTube" video sharing Website run by Google Inc's affiliate YouTube LLC.

Kadokawa will differentiate its businesses through a policy to not only provide its official content to YouTube but also proactively allow its content to be uploaded by users. To determine whether or not a user submission will be approved, Kadokawa will adopt video recognition technology developed by Google and YouTube

Kadokawa Digix has been verifying Google's video recognition technology since July 2007"
