The BBC has finally announced the return date for Doctor Who. Matt Smith and his new companion Jenna-Louise Coleman, will continue their adventures March 30th. Until then, and throughout the year, BBC America is airing special Doctor Who Revisited Specials. These specials air once a month and feature a classic tale with each Doctor. Yes, each Doctor all the way from the beginning.

I gotta wonder if this is going to be another 13 episode season.  Seems kinda unlikely, considering this year is the 50th Anniversary.  If the beginning of the year is 8 episodes, it seems like a shame to only have five around November, when the actual anniversary date is happening.

Did the video not just say "EIGHT AMAZING ADVENTURES"??

Wyldstaar 1/29/2013 10:10:58 PM

Yes.  What's your point Runesword?  Since the relaunch of Doctor Who in 2005, every season has been thirteen episodes.  Like last year, the season is being split between the spring and the fall.  The eight episodes they are refering to in the video are the ones being aired beginning March 30th.  Thirteen minus eight is five, as in five episodes around November.  What is not typical is the fact that this year represents the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who, so changes are to be expected.  Is it the math you don't understand, the english language that's giving you the difficulty, or do you just not know anything about Doctor Who?  Or maybe you simply feel like being an ass?!

This is the second half of the current season seven which started last fall with "Asylum of the Daleks" and ran through "Angels Take Manhattan," and then continued with "The Snowmen."

These 8 episodes are the second half of season 7.

it ran from Autumn/Fall 2012 for 5 episodes then the Christmas 2012 special then it picks up the second part of season 7 in Spring 2013 with final 8 stories.

Season 8 wil launch in 2014, but there are specials planned including a drama based around filming the first episode (60s).

So Wyldstaar.  Who feels like an ass?

I'm really looking forward to the end of March now.  It will be interesting to see where they go with Clara.  Who is she?  I'm thinking that will lead into a 50th Anniversary special where it will all be revealed.

Wow Wyldstarr!  Think before you type.  Sorry but you look like an idiot!

BBC scheduling has always been a little wierd to me, especially with Doctor Who. one year it's 13 episodes back-to-back, next year it's 4 TV movies spaced out over the year, now it's 16 episodes seperated into two distant blocks.  Trying to figure out their scheduling is harder than trying to figure out the Doctors real name.

They should have financed a big budget movie for theaters for the 50th.

docwho 1/31/2013 2:36:10 PM

FerretJohn,  There are only 13 in season 7.  There were only 5 in the first half of season 7 that started last September.
