The Road's star tackles the Apes

According to, Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road) has been cast in the sequel to the prequel of the Planet of the Apes franchise. Smit-McPhee will star in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opposite Andy Serkis’ Ceaser. 

“Smit-McPhee is currently filming The Young Ones, directed by Jake Paltrow, alongside Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies), Elle Fanning (Super 8) and Michael Shannon (Tron Legacy)”. 

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set May 23, 2014 release.

Sequel to the prequel? Grrrr....these movies still have NOTHING to do with all 5 original movies....NOOOOOTHHHHIIIIINNNNGGGG (except the names of course).

 Why the hell would they have ANYTHING to do with the original movies? The originals told the entire story! At least the new movies dont have that horrible plot about cats and dogs dieing off so we make monkeys are new pet.

Jason Clarke is also joining the film. He's been great in Lawless and Zero Dark Thirty

 Jedi - they did cross reference the exploration trip that the original series started with...

I wouldn't say the new movie was better than the original.  I wouldn't say it was worse either though.  It's kind of hard to compare the two.  As the newer movie has better special effects and the newer one is more relatable to a modern audience.

 Michael Shannon wasn't in Tron Legacy.  He's on Boardwalk Empire and now is playing Zod in Man of Steel.
