Star Wars #1 Sells Out

A new era for Star Wars has begun

By Robert T. Trate     January 11, 2013
Source: Dark House Comics

This is the beginning of new era in Star Wars. Dark Horse Comics, who has been printing Star Wars comics for over two decades, has just sold out of Star Wars #1. Dark Horse had this to say about their new smash hit:

“The critically acclaimed and highly anticipated Star Wars #1, written by Brian Wood, has officially sold out of its first printing and will be going for a second run next month!

Set in the classic era with classic characters, this all-new Star Wars features artist Carlos D’Anda (Batman: Arkham City) with covers by the legendary Alex Ross. The initial print run of this smash-hit issue came complete with a download code for a free digital issue of the comic through Dark Horse Digital.

This is Star Wars as you remember it . . . and as you have never seen it before! Dark Horse is taking you back to those heady, adventure-filled days following the destruction of the Death Star—when the Empire ruled, the Rebels were on the run, and the galaxy was a dangerous place where anything might happen!

While a second printing is in the works, hurry now to your local comics retailer and grab a copy from the first print run before they’re gone for good!”

REPRINT WILL ARRIVE FEBRUARY 6.

I personally picked up the issue but in an era when comics are now digital, the first issue is just a key stoke away (check it out here). Sure collectors won’t have that first issue in hand but for those of us that love to read a good book, there are always options

Enjoy it while you can. This series will be canceled within the next two years once the comics return to Marvel.

Synopsis kind of sounds like the old Marvel(?) series that I enjoyed as a kid, but maybe without the wisecracking green space rabbit.

plenty of good stories to tell in 2 years. I've been collecting dark horse star wars titles for years, and when they cancelled Rebellion - the previous series set in that era - it was a dark day indeed. VERY excited to see more stories from the era between ANH and TESB.

I'm a huge SW fan as well as ST yet I never got into them in book or comic book format. I just don't consider them canon, that's just me.

Same here Wise.

I bought the Marvel series way back when. As a kid, I loved it because there wasn't much Star Wars source material out there. But as I got older, they became just meh.

I tried some of the Dark Horse series. Some were ok but sadly, it wasn't Star Wars. For me, Star Wars is all about the sound effects, music and special effects. Sadly, none of that present in comic form.

Why is comics all of a sudden in the digital era? Just because it's available doesn't mean the ''age'' of comic is now more important because it's digital...just saying.

I found a local shop that had a small stack on the shelf after everyone else sold out!
