I actually really liked this movie. I loved the original as a kid but watching it now I cannot fathom what I was thinking - that movie is horrible.
Plans to bring about a sequel to The Karate Kid may finally be receiving some traction over at Sony Pictures. Nearly two years after the studio announced their follow-up plans to the 2010 reboot starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, Variety reports that screenwriter Zak Penn has been brought on board to flesh out the story.
It will be a return for feature film writing for Penn (The Incredible Hulk), with the writer recently focusing his efforts on the Syfy series "Alphas." And the trade doesn't mention whether he will be starting from scratch or incorporating elements from the draft turned in by Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff.
The Karate Kid opened in theaters on June 11, 2010 to tune of $55.6 million over its first three days of release. Produced on a budget of only $40 million, it went on to gross $359.1 million over the summer season.

The original Karate Kid is awesome, especially the final fight.
"sweep the leg", then you had one of Cobra Kai douchebag members screaming "Get him a body bag, yeaaah", and "no mercy" to Johnny. Plus the Cobra Kai master screaming "finish him" only to have LaRusso pull the "crane kick" to pull out the win. Dope all around yo!
I wonder if the sequel will pick up right after the first one, and they'll have Jackie Chan honk the other sensei's nose out in the parking lot. They really need to work the honking of the nose somewhere in the sequel or what's the point.

The original is still king. So much goodness in that movie. Focus punch! Driver punch! Keeeyah!
I loved the original alot, but I also liked the remake, which is unusual for me. It had a sweetness to it with its own flavor that worked. For the sequel I hope they really come up with an entirely new idea instead of copying the original's sequel.
Jaden Smith will be growing a beard by the time its finally done.
maybe they could have Daniel come back in the reboot sequel and go after Jaden Smith and reclaim his title as the one and ONLY REAL Karate Kid!
It'll feature Willow Smith transplanted to Brazil where she learns Capouira :)
Seriously though, I loved the first movie and I look forward to hearing more
I wonder what route they are gonna take for a sequel. I hope its not the same I get beat up thru the entire movie until the end
