Question to Maniacs

(Thu 11/09/2006 11:21pm)

So I have seen many of you 'maniacs' adding comments to articles saying that you can only read the article if you "highlight the text."

I don't understand this.  I have checked in both Mozilla 2.0 and a recent version of IE and I don't have the problem in either browser.  Could you guys let me know if you are still having this issue and if you are, please tell me the browser you are currently viewing mania.com with.

Thanks guys.

PS.  Jakester ... don't make sweet love to my blog ... ever ... again.

I researched this issue at the forums and as far as potential reasons are concerned through 5 people, it was users with non Microsoft Operating systems and browsers.

3 people had Safari browsers and Apple systems.

We have to see if everyone has a common symptom to see if which is the sole etch of code contributing to it. Maybe it's Mac systems?

And....just for you, News Guru...Gears of War came out on the 7th. I tried telling you this seemingly sweet game was out already when you posted the awesome video clip but only friends can post on your thoughts.

Jakester will still make sweet sweet love to you too. Telling him off only makes him more ornery. :)

Everyone who's having issues, please comment here so we can tell what issue your having. There has to be a common function on one of the operating systems contributed...

Apple? Mac? Safari browser? Opera browser?

Let Karl know here.

As for the Gears of War mishap ... the press release I had said the 12th, so they goofed and I just followed suit!

Fine...fine...I'll just have sloppy nasty sex with it.

I don't know why my blog only allows my friends to post comments ... I don't see anywhere in the settings that I can alter this ...

I'm not saying this will fix it because I think there is a glitch in our Edit Profile page..At least there was two weeks ago when I was trying to take away the same function and it wouldn't take.

Still, go to your "My Profile" page, Karl. On the first tab for your profile...Click on Profile. When your profile page comes up, hit "Edit Profile" on the top right....above your icon name and picture. When the "Edit Profile" page comes up...pan down to the bottom. There will be 6 or so "check" boxes for different features. One of them says "Only my friends can post comments" option. Make sure that's turned off and hit save.

It may not fix it though if the glitch is still occuring. I had that checked as well when I signed up and when I tried taking it off two weeks ago, it was having trouble register. The glitch may have been fixed though.

Thanks for the help Jedi, I think that did the trick!

I use windows xp and firefox 2.0 and I have experienced an article with no text (and highlighting didn't work either).

Do you remember which article that was?

Korinthian • Nov 14, 2006, 02:52pm •
No, but I made the comment "no text alert" in it, if that helps any.

Ahhh, that explains it. Everyone experienced a no text alert issue with that "Univeral gets a supernatural" movie article...It was a problem with the uploading function, right Karl?

I also have Mozilla 2 and Windows XP and that was the only text issue I've recieved because everyone experienced a problem with that one.

Some others, however, have been experiencing this problem on "lots" of articles(not just that one Supernatural/Universal article)....and so far, that pinpoints to some other kind of operating system.
