I like the show (Huge fan of the original as well), but I just got done watching the 3rd season all at once, and it was just to metaphysical and political for me. Very dissapointing. Kinda glad they are going to wrap it up, but I bet they will not completely end it. They will save something for future movies and the like.

There is so much fantasy out there that we can compare to LOTR. Waisting your breath and time doing it too. It comes down to whether you like the series or not. The first book was tough, but the subsequent ones got better with each book, the second book, Elfstones, stood out. Could be fun to watch, but regardless, it will not take away the magic (sorry for the pun) the books brought to my imagination. Brooks is a good writer and I am glad he was influenced by Tolkien, everyone in the genre was. All the other series mentioned here are great too. And now with CGI, they all can be made into movies. Ofcourse, some people would freak at the beginning of the Covenant series......
