Game of Thrones Season 5 Trailer (Article) - 2/9/2015 11:09:00 PM

With no news story on this site on the "Spider Man" development, I am guessing Mania is down for the count.

First Look: Paul Rudd in ANT-MAN (Article) - 8/19/2014 6:41:43 PM

I live 5 blocks away from an area of San Francisco where this movie is filming (Tenderloin District). I have lived in this city for 38 years, and have seen many TV / film productions, but have never personally seen a production this complex on the streets. Multiple cranes, streets shut down during peak daytime hours, an entire intersection transformed from a seedy part of SF to an even seedier looking intersection, extras everywhere. Looks like it could be a scene that takes place in the past. This is all pretty cool because most movies that take place in SF actually film in Canada or elsewhere. I expect this movie will at least have an authentic, non generic feel.

Mania Review: Transformers: Age of Extinction (Article) - 7/11/2014 3:54:07 AM

So let me get this straight........Go back millions of years and see spaceships turning dinosaurs into frozen metal (This scene has absolutely nothing to do with the actual Dinobots BT). Fast forward to when the Autobots saved earth in Dark of The Moon, now the humans are hunting all transformers to rid the world of these robots, but the humans who hate transformers are using a Transformer to hunt the other transformers, and now Optimus Prime has to go into hiding, so he picks a movie theater to hide in, and somehow fit through the doors, and then a broke inventor who builds those robotic dogs you see in magazines, visits this movie theater for parts, finds Optimus in truck mode, pays $150 dollars for him, brings optimus prime home and fixes him because he is damaged from battle..........The rest of the plot goes downhill from here.

Sorry to spoil the first 20 minutes of the movie. Just wanted to give those who have yet to see the movie a small taste of the stupidity you are in for. I am mentally drained from watching this movie (And I enjoyed 1,2 and 3).

Mania Review: Robocop (Article) - 2/13/2014 12:18:44 AM

CapAmerica04, I think this movie will be fine for the kids. The violence is along the lines of a transformers or GI joe movie. The only parts that were hard to watch were surgery scenes.

Mania Review: Robocop (Article) - 2/12/2014 3:03:14 AM

Watched the midnight IMAX screening. Loved the new take on the character. Padilha can direct some seriously awesome action scenes. And all the worry anout the rock was only in one action scene, and it was proper in the context of that scene.

I was turned off by the music in that scene too. I watched the directors previous movies, Elite Squad 1 & 2. He did the same thing in those movies. Some action scenes had a cool thematic score, and other action scenes had rock music. He's a great director, but definitely needs to ditch the rock music scores.

1st RoboCop Trailer (Article) - 9/6/2013 11:53:19 AM

I am in for the director alone. I can't stand foreign films with subtitles because they take away from the full movie  experience for me. However, Jose Padillah's "Elite Squad" and "Elite Squad 2" are phenominal flix. Very dark and violent films about police corruption in Brazil. This guy is seriously talented and I believe he will do "Robocop" justice.
