What They Say
No friends, daily beatings by bullies & even his parents have given up on Ryouichi. However, his life changes one day when a new girl transfers to his class. Chihiro is an old childhood friend, and she remembers Ryouichi. She is unaware that he has suffered brain damage from an injury he sustained while they were playing together as children. Riddled with guilt, she offers to do anything for him. Taking advantage of the situation, Ryouichi demands sex from her. Her conscience does not allow Chihiro to back out, and she agrees. Ryouichi quickly learns that he is infallible in bed, and vows to make every woman who has wronged him his sexual slave!

The Review!
Ah, vengeance hentai anime. Combine that with some unattractive character designs and you get Keraku No Oh.

For our primary viewing session, we listened to this disc in its original language of Japanese. Though this is a fairly recent release, the show is a pretty basic stereo mix with most everything being center channel dominated. The only real exception is the music, but even that is pretty much just filling up the entire forward soundstage with no real directionality. But in the end, it's a decent sounding track with no dropouts or distortions.

The transfer for this episode is falls more into the acceptable category. Colors are good throughout, backgrounds are nice and solid, but there’s cross coloration lightly throughout the entire show. The main offense though is the amount of aliasing going on throughout, mostly during the many panning sequences, that really makes it difficult to watch since you see the characters skin edges essentially break-up.

All the women in Ryoichi’s life show up on the cover here and look fairly decent, but you can see the lower quality to character designs if you really look at them. The back cover provides a few animation shots and a small summary of what to expect. The discs basic production and technical information is included here as well. As with all NuTech releases, there is no insert included.

After a brief load up animation, the main menu settles to an image of Chihiro in something very skimpy while animation from the show plays muted in the background set to some of the instrumental music. Menu selections are standard for a NuTech release and access times are pretty good.

The only extra is a brief art gallery.

Oh boy, what a show. With only a thirty minute time frame to work in, things are done rather quickly here but the premise is simple. In his youth, Ryoichi ended up in an accident that caused something of brain damage. Since then, he’s been bullied and tortured by the other kids in school and have made his life hell.

When Chihiro returns from America with her parents, she’s enrolled back in the same school as Ryoichi. She tries to strike up the same friendship that they had when they were young, but he’s very adamant about not doing that again. As it turns out, she was the cause of the accident, though she didn’t know and ended up leaving not long afterwards. She swears she never would have left if she had known and promises to do anything she can to help him.

So what’s a somewhat brain damaged horny kid want? You got it, to sleep with this beautiful girl. So she gives in to him and they go ragged at it, as it’s apparently the one thing he’s really skilled at. With Chihiro now sworn to him to help him make things right, she becomes part of his plan for vengeance on all the women who’ve tortured him over the years. She’s against some aspects of it, but a promise is a promise and they begin tricking various people into situations where Ryoichi can take care of them in his own special way.

The character designs for the women look like rejects from Ogenki Clinic and the male characters are just plain ugly. Combined with some generally poor animated parts, this looks pretty bad from multiple angles. While there’s been enough shows that I’d love to see more episodes of, this is one that I hope they don’t spend any more time on.
