Kevin Smith is a big comic book fanboy himself, having written for Darevdevil and some others, so it makes a lot of sense that he's going to do the Heroes spinoff show. And we shouldn't be so suprised if he appears in the episode, or Jason Mewes, or the two Clerks guys. That might not be such a long shot. Think about it, fellow Maniacs.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jay and Silent Bob turned out to be Heroes.

I hope he stays behind the camera or maybe even a little role for himself but not Mewes.

Great! Now one of the few shows I really like might get spoiled due to dick, fart, sex, and weed jokes…
I like Smith, and I know a bit of me is happy he is finally moving on from his usual stuff, but his track record stands still in the worry column cause that is all he really ever does is the above. That Hornet film would of and should of been his ticket to finally bury this whole NJ deal of his. Quit going to the dried well. Scrap the porn comedy (aka Clerks 3). Do your horror film (180 of Feast PLEASE). And for the love of God/Alanis take the HORNET FILM BACK! Anyone is better than that fat f*** Seth Rogan!

(p.s. Anyone else out there think Hugo Weaving would make a great Hornet?)

Kevin Smith is writing and directing an episode of the Origins show. It won't "spoil" the regular show. From everything the creators of Heroes said at Comic-Con, Origins won't have much of an impact at all on the main show.

Yes, once Kevin Smith gets his hands on Heroes, its over for that show! Come on, don`t be ridiculous! He`s doing one episode of the spinoff with hardly any impact on the main show. Now maybe if Uwe Boll was directing an episode, that might destroy Heroes, but its highly unlikely.
I just find it kind of funny, how people comment on how Kevin Smith needs to do more serious stuff and get away from the "porn, dick and fart" jokes but when he did with Jersey Girl, people hated it and said he should stick to what he knows. KS is a damn talented dude. He knows comic books and how to tell a story which has nothing to do with dick and fart jokes. Pick up one of his DD comics and you`ll see.

While I would agree with the comment that him directing an episode of the spinoff show won't "destroy Heroes," I don't necessarily take this step as a good thing.

Now I'm no expert on Jersey Girl, mostly because I refused to see it, but in my completely biased and uneducated opinion, the fact that the movie starred Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez had far more to do with its supreme sucky-lookingness than Smith's style. Those two could torpedo ANY film.

Personally, I don't like his movies for all the reasons mentioned above... I find them to be juvenile, redundant, and rely on the viewer being a stoner or drunk to really enjoy them.

That said, I hope this is an opportunity for him to do something a lot better than what he's slopped on the table so far. Much like Adam Sandler, I view him as a man with talent who doesn't seem to want to grow up and take advantage of it, at least in the world of cinema.

Though I've heard the man writes a mean comic.
