I really don't understand how people can say 'Kick-Ass' was a so-so movie because it didn't stick to the source material, but then they jump on the Nolan 'Batman' bandwagon like a giddy little schoolgirl.

(I wasn't calling you out, ElBaz13. I was just using your remark as an example from tons of other remarks made about 'Kick-Ass')

And yes, these are the types of movies Nicholas Cage needs to be in. His greatest movie ever was 'Raising Arizona' and his acting was perfect for that movie...even if it was his first big break haha.

Since Matthew Vaughn had trouble securing funds for the money, he had to make some changes or the film would've never gotten off the ground. He couldn't have Hit Girl snorting an experimental government drug, I think that might have taken it too far and he would have never gotten any money. Vaughn did all of the fundraising for this movie himself and I guess the money came with certain stipulations. I think the only bad change was when Mindy and Dave reveal their identities. They should have made that scene more like the books and had her break down crying because both of her parents were now dead. It would've had more emotional resonance.

It doesn't have to be page by page direct copy of the comic. My biggest beef was that this movie's (and comic) general theme was that this is the real world. That if you dress up as a superhero, you are going to get your ass kicked.

Didn't like the changes to Big Daddy (being an ex-cop out for revenge). Red Mist was supposed to be a more cool hero, not a big joke like Mclovin. And his identity in the comics was a mystery until the twist was revealed who he was. No mystery in the movie.

Plus Kick Ass lying to that chick that he's gay, In the movie, she jumps him. In the comic, like real life, she shows more hate to the guy for deceiving him.

As for the jetpack scene. It just burned me because the whole movie preached about "realism" in crime fighting but then you have this scene in the end that just pissed on the whole theme.

To me it was like a reverse of the Nolan Batman movies. Nolan takes the fantasy element out of Batman for a more realistic take while Kick Ass took the realistic take of the comics and threw in some fantasy.
