Comics Continuum reports that an upcoming episode of Batman: Brave and the Bold will featuring none other than Scooby Doo! The title of the segement is 'Bat-Mite Presents: Batman's Strangest Cases!'. Batman will also team with a guest actor playing a cartoon version of themselves.

Fans may recall that Batman was a guest on Scooby's show in the 1970s when the mystery-loving dog had a team-up show as his own. That show typically featured pairings with TV characters from other shows and celebrities, such as the Harlem Globetrotters, Sonny & Cher and The Addams Famly for example. The Batman episode is still available on DVD.

Based on the DC Comics series/graphic novel “Superman/Batman: Supergirl” by Jeph Loeb, Michael Turner & Peter Steigerwald, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse is produced by animation legend Bruce Timm and directed by Lauren Montgomery (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) from a script by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Tab Murphy (Gorillas in the Mist).

In Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, a spaceship splashes down in Gotham City Harbor -- leading Batman and Superman to encounter a mysterious Kryptonian with powers as great as those of the Man of Steel. The Kryptonian is soon revealed to be Kara, cousin of Superman, who takes her under his wing to educate her about the ways of Earth. However, the villainous Darkseid has other plans. Seeing an opportunity to finally defeat Superman, Darkseid abducts and gains control of Kara, utilizing the powerful Kryptonian to do his bidding. It’s up to Batman and Superman to save Kara, but they’ll have to take the fight to Darkseid within his hostile world – where unknown, deadly threats lurk around every corner, including a brainwashed Kryptonian able to match Superman blow-for-blow.

Fan favorites Tim Daly (Private Practice) and Kevin Conroy (China Beach) return to their seminal roles as Superman and Batman, respectively. The celebrity-laden guest cast is headed by Andre Braugher (Men of a Certain Age) as the daunting Darkseid. Sci-Fi heroine Summer Glau (Serenity/Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) provides the voice of Supergirl, and seven-time Emmy Award winner Ed Asner (Up) reprises his Superman: The Animated Series/Justice League role as Granny Goodness.

Produced by Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse will be distributed by Warner Home Video on September 28, 2010.

C2F Quick Hits

  • We just realized we forgot to file our Monday box office spotlight letting you know that Scott Pilgrim vs The World fell out of the top 10 in its third week. It did. It lost four spots to three new openers and also fell behind Despicable Me which is in its eighth week. Alas, Scottie, we hardly knew ye.

  • If you saw Scott Pilgrim vs The World, liked it and want to extend the experience a bit longer, you can click over to MTV Splash Page to win some Pilgrim crew hats.

  • IMDB now lists actor JJ Field as playing "Montgomery Falsworth" in Captain America: The First Avenger. He would be better known in the comics a Union Jack.

  • Comics Continuum has six images from the Season 2 premiere of Human Target. The new season starts Friday, October 1st.

SMALLVILLE Season 10 Premiere Images

The CW has provided nine new images from the first episode of Smallville season 10, titled 'Lazarus'. The images feature Tom Welling and actor John Schneider as Clark and Jonathan Kent respectively.

Regular viewers know that Jonathan died of a heart attack five seasons ago and has been absent from the show ever since. The nature of his return in this episode is unknown, but based on the farm setting and the stoic and wistful nature of the images, we're betting on an Uncle Ben style pep talk from the afterlife.

KICK ASS 2 a Go?

The 21st Century's answer to P.T. Barnum, comics creator/publisher/film mogul Mark Millar is out talking up the new Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall which made it's comics debut this week in his CLiNT magazine. Bleeding Cool caught an appearance on BBC radio's Richard Bacon show in which he talked up the movie sequel as well.

Although Millar has been predicting a sequel as a near-certainty since before the first movie came out, he told Bacon on the air that the follow-up film is a sure thing now.

"The estimate is [Kick-Ass] will do 100 to 150 million on DVD based on the American sales, you know, so it’ll end up making a quarter of a billion on a 28 million investment," Millar said. "So It should be okay. So the sequel’s greenlit, we can go ahead and do the follow up now, you know. The first made so much compared to what it cost it would be crazy not to."

He also commented on the development of the movie based on his new comic Nemesis, which has Tony Scott on board to produce and direct. Millar has previously name-dropped Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp for the film and now claims that is exactly who Scott is going after.

"I just got a call from him, literally about a month ago… it was one of those very surreal things. This is a $150 million budget," Millar said. "He said, 'Who do you fancy for it?' I said, 'I dunno, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp'.  So he said, 'That’s good, we’ll give them a call.'"

We can hardly take that casting bit as anything other than some airtime banter, but we'd personally love to see Pitt and Depp square off in a Tony Scott movie.

Of course kick ass 2 is a go - any shmuck off the street could have told you that still i got a kick out of the first one so the second one should be fun to watch and read too

gutsmgee 9/1/2010 5:47:11 AM

My girlfriend has 0% interest in comics. She LOVES Hit-Girl. EVERYTHING is Hit-Girl this, Hit-Girl that.....Great.....Doesn't look like I'm getting out of this hell anytime soon....Time for a drink!

kimbroo 9/1/2010 7:26:41 AM

You're lucky gutsmgee!  Better than "Bella this, Jacob that, vampires made of diamonds are a girl's best friend" blah!

I am definitely looking forward to this one!

krathwardroid 9/1/2010 7:38:21 AM

Yes, Kick-Ass 2 would be greenlit. That was obvious. If they can greenlight a sequel to Piranha 3D despite the box office intake, then they would have no problem with a sequel to Kick-Ass. I'm not going to watch it, so I don't care. But Nemesis? Yeah, I'd watch that. The comic is just totally crazy.

Mark Millar drinks way to much of his own Kool-Aid. I think I kinda like that about him. Definately looking forward to Kick-Ass 2. I would love to see Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp together, let's see if that actually happens though.

pilgram 9/1/2010 8:30:14 AM

Pit and Depp in Nemisis would be great, and expensive. With just what they pull in Pay or Play you have 40 Million before you film. Now if they might take a big back end like Leo did for Inception than it could happen. BTW it really payed off for Leo.

DC is pumping out awesome animation, I sadly just got Red Hood and about kicked myself for not getting it sooner. Apocalypse is gonna rock. If only Marvel would get on with it too

Union Jack in Captain America!, that is cool. I wonder if they are some what going to follow "The Invaders" comic from way back. Has there been any confirmation or denial on Namor showing up in the flick?

monelonmonday 9/1/2010 12:00:17 PM

just rumor littlemikey, depends on how you take johnstons quote

lracors 9/1/2010 1:41:26 PM

Nice on Kick-Ass and Nemesis.

Littlemikey979, yes "The Invaders" will be featured prominently in the 2nd half of "Captain America".  I doubt Namor will be in it other than a document type reference as they did with "Nick Fury" in the Incredible Hulk.  Since the "Cap" film will most likely have "The Invaders" with him at the end of Cap's WW2 adventures (just before being frozen) at that point, Namor wasn't with the team for that mission.

Can anyone tell me if the TV version of Human Target was any good?
