That twirp behind the counter at my neighborhood Blockbuster
(Wed 01/10/2007 06:18pm)I have avoided the online video rental revolution for one reason:
For me, shopping for books, DVDs, and music is still a tactile experience. I like to go into these stores and manually flip through the inventory; I like to turn over the potential selection and read the sleeve or jacket or cover or whatever; I dig cover art with blurbs from obscure critics of whom I have never heard.
In short, I like the video store, but here's the rub:
Occasionally, you get THAT clerk. You know the one...That greasy little fanboy who's seen EVERY SINGLE EPISODE of Dr Who ever. That bastard who judges your taste in campy B-film Zombie movies and then proceeds to make comments on it. "Well, this is hardly worth the price of the rental. Perhaps you should invest in_"
I HATE that f***ing guy. God, the gall! Just ring up my film, give me that butterfinger and tell me to have a nice evening. If I ask for an opinion and you tell me it sucks, that's fair, but dont voluntarily tell me that my taste is terrible.
