I can't get over how whiney the fans can be. The Mandarin twist was phenomenal.

Shogun, I think the vast majority you are talking about are just the comic geeks who know what the character is in the comics. But nowadays they ( well us) are only a small minority of the general public who sees the Marvel movies and specifcally Iron Man. From the fact that critics really loved the movie, Rotten Tomatoes gives it really high marks from average people who voted online, and of course the fact that it was the no. 1 movie of the year making over a billion dollars kind of shows that Marvel made the correct decision with the change.

Sure I was hoping for A ten ring zap-a-thon with Shellhead but I ended up liking what they did.

It was the fact that he looked so fecking cool as The Mandarin that made the twist hard to swallow, but I have to admit the tears i had in the cinema when the revealed happened wre of laughtter and not sorrow...

That said, he WASN'T wearing the rings, so maybe when all of them were on his fingers in the right order there is a chemical reaction and The Mandarin returns from his subconscious...

I loved the plot twist in Iron Man 3 also...but I will say this - by going the route that they did, they missed a perfect opportunity to show that there is room in the Marvel Movie/TV Universe for the arcane.  I mean, they've already decided there's nothing magical about Thor either - just a higher technology than we can understand.  The way things stand right now, I think they may have a difficult time selling movie goers on Doctor Strange.

I am sick and fucking tired of people saying I am a f*cking whiner. F*CK YOU. To me it was terrible writing. Iron Man 3, to me, was a steaming pile of SH*T. So guess what, those who discount me and the millions who are like me, GET F*CKED.

Doing the REAL F*CKING Mandarin would have made the movie they made look like a pile utter crap. PERIOD. The real Mandarin is a stone cold bad ass who got f*cked over by BAD WRITING.

What a JOKE. A total and utter JOKE.

axia777 10/22/2013 8:04:41 PM

Also, you all can go ahead and accept sub-par retarded shit, but I refuse to do so. The awesomeness that will be Thor 2 and Captain America 2 will make Iron Man 3 look like the cheap ass piece of crap it really is.

Iron Man 3 was a wasted opportunity for pure and utter badassery.  What we got some dumb ass movie where Tony was barely in the suit for the whole damn film and the Mandarin turns out to be some retarded drunk stoner.

Yeah, that is BAD ASS. RIGHT?

axia777 10/22/2013 9:27:01 PM

Oh and not to mention some bullshit about that dumb ass kid.  But that was AWESOME RIGHT?

Modo 10/22/2013 10:13:27 PM

I agree with axia.  Why the *&^&#! Ben Kingsley solicited himself for that crap role is beyond me.  I thought Kingsley's lines at the beginning of the movie were weird, forced, and hokey - little did I know the whole story behind his character would be the same!  That was the LAMEST plot twist in movie history...

I couldn't stand the "let's keep saving Tony Stark and Pepper's arse by having fall-in and out- of MULTIPLE suits" was just classic deux ex machine.

And to think I couldn't WAIT for a live-action Iron Man move that featured the Mandarin....

SarcasticCaveman 10/23/2013 3:22:39 AM

I'll agree to disagree on Iron Man 3, but I whole heartedly agree with you, Axia, on the "whiner" label.  "Oh, I'm sorry...I'm a whiner for not LOVING whatever the hell the herd happens to love."  That gets more than a little tiresome.  While I happened to really enjoy Iron Man 3, I won't call you a whiner for holding the franchise to a higher expectation.

Why are comics discounted in the movies?  Basically it's why the movies are being made.  We don't need a panel for shot remake of the comic but the spirit which made it popular should have made it into the movie.  They don't ignore novels adaptions for the most part, like LOTR.  They should not do it for the comic movies either with such a vast history of stories and background the gen pop don't know about.  And it pisses the fans off.  Which is why IM2 and IM3 will never make it to best comic movies ever made list.
