Columbia Plans Greek Epic ANABASIS - Aug 01, 2008 - 06:10am
Isn't this the original story that the movie "The Warriors" is based on?

Marathon Taking SPIES From TV to Theaters - May 16, 2008 - 08:36am
Yeah, but I'm pretty sure there aren't any lesbians in this one...

Universal Unleashes New MUMMY Trailer - May 16, 2008 - 08:29am
I have to admit, that does look kinda fun. I love adventure movies like this, so I'll most likely check it out.

Columbia Gets GOOSEBUMPS - May 15, 2008 - 09:29am
I loved these books as a kid! A good portion of them were actually kinda creepy. I don't remember how far I got in the series before moving on to Stine's series for older kids, "Fear Street". Those weren't bad either, but they got kind of repetitive. From there it was just a hop, skip and a jump to Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft!

Comicscape: Ben Johnson Counts Out Countdown - Apr 30, 2008 - 11:35am
I missed 52 so I jumped onto Countdown. It was ok, but man, if you haven't done your research into the history of the DCU you won't have a frakkin clue what's going on. Looking forward to Final Crisis (will it be the "final crisis", probably not), hopefully that'll clear things up. What I'm really looking forward to though is DC's 2009 summer event, the third arc of the Green Lantern Saga (Sinestro Corps was part 2) called "In Blackest Night", where old villains return and new lantern corps are created for different colors, like black, red, orange, and blue. It sounds awesome! Oh, and on a side note, I saw a comic today in the store called "Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space" and I'm totally shocked that it's not even mentioned in this column...

Slater, Bentley Lead Stephen King's CADILLAC - Apr 25, 2008 - 08:37am
Is this the one where he digs a big hole in the middle of the desert? I always like that King story. I'll be interested to see how it goes on film.

New Featurette for Bond's SOLACE - Mar 20, 2008 - 07:24am
Can't wait, looks good!

Directors & Stars for FEAR ITSELF - Mar 03, 2008 - 01:41pm
So is Masters of Horror gonna continue? Or is everyone switching to this. Some of the stories sound cool, and most have good directors and writers, but how much horror can you really put into a show that's going to be on NBC?

Special Edition INDY DVDS May 13 - Mar 03, 2008 - 01:39pm
I'm not entirely sure what the point of buying this would be since they're just gonna release another box set when Crystal Skull hits DVD.

First Trailer for STEP BROTHERS - Feb 28, 2008 - 08:00am
I'm not really a huge Wille Ferrell fan, usually don't go see his films in the theater, but this one looks pretty funny.

SAG Causing High Profile Film Delays? - Feb 28, 2008 - 07:53am
We all know why the writers went on strike, but I haven't heard anything on why the actors would strike. Anyone have any info on that?

HULK Trailer in March? Marvel Release Lineup - Feb 20, 2008 - 07:53am
That's awesome that they're doing an animated Planet Hulk movie, even if it is just direct-to-DVD. Great story, I'll definitely check that one out when it hits. Too bad it's not for another 2 years!

PROM NIGHT Trailer Hits this Weekend - Jan 03, 2008 - 09:53am
The original Prom Night kind of kicked off the whole "whodunit" mystery style with teen slasher flicks. Jamie Lee Curtis was great, especially the very last part, but the whole movie was still kinda "meh" (but it was probably cool when originally released). I'm guessing it'll still be "meh" unless they go with a hard R, which is unlikely in the current climate of PG13 teen "horror" films. The only thing I've seen Brittany Snow in was Hairspray, and she was pretty good in that, but it was all comedy, and we know she can sing, let's see how well she screams!

COMPASS Comes Up Short in Dismal Victory - Dec 10, 2007 - 08:08am
It probably didn't help that most of the midwest was stuck in an ice storm and people didn't leave the house. Good movie though, but the ending sucked.

Chung Finds Love in DRAGON BALL Z - Dec 06, 2007 - 09:58am
Seriously? Justin Chatwin and James Marsters? Chatwin is that kid from War of the Worlds and Marsters was Spike on Buffy. I really can't see Chatwin as Goku, though maybe, MAYBE Marsters as Piccolo, if he bulks up. Chatwin though is a horrible choice, I don't see anything of Goku in him.

ENCHANTED Dances into Top Spot - Nov 26, 2007 - 10:47am
Caught Beowulf on Friday, thought it wasn't bad, glad I was lucky enough to see it in 3D, that was pretty cool. I did expect a little better out of Neil Gaiman, but the film was ok, considering what a departure it was from the original legend. Saw The Mist and thought it was very well done. It was the first King adaptation in a while that stays almost completely true to the original story, except for the last minute or two of the film. That completely ruined it for me. I don't mind that they changed the ending, but the fact that it was such an "F.U." to the characters and the audience pissed me off. Also saw Enchanted, which was fantastic, I'll probably go see it again. It doesn't try to please both parents and kids and pleases everyone in doing so. There were even people in the audience who applauded after the big musical number in the park. This film will probably perform well all the way through Christmas.

What to Watch While the Writer’s Strike - Nov 12, 2007 - 10:30am
Does anyone else find it ironic that the writers went on strike partly because they weren't getting residuals from DVD sales, but now that they're involved in a strike that could drag on, DVD sales will probably shoot up as people turn to other sources of TV shows?

International IRON MAN Trailer - Nov 05, 2007 - 03:22pm
I read somewhere that Favreau wants to do a trilogy (if the first film does well) with the Mandarin as the overall third film villain who controls the actions of the villains in the first two films from behind the scenes. I'll see it regardless of who the villain is, next to The Dark Knight this is the movie I'm most excited about next summer!

AMC Doing a SCIFI Series? - Oct 29, 2007 - 10:34am
I've been pissed off at AMC ever since they switched from a fantastic movie channel to one where they break for commercials and show crap films. The only reason I'm enjoying them this month is because they're the only movie channel that's showing nothing but horror movies all month long. Even TCM is only doing horror movies on Fridays. I love the Treehouse of Horror episodes from the Simpsons, damn the World Series for always pushing the episode to after Halloween! Can't wait to see how they parody Se7en, hope it's funny.

After Dark HORROR FEST Adds Two More - Oct 26, 2007 - 10:49am
The Deaths of Ian Stone, Nightmare Man and Tooth and Nail sound ok, not sure about the others. Most of the ones from last years fest that I saw sucked big time, let's hope these are better. Wasn't The Deaths of Ian Stone being talked about for a regular wide-release a while ago? Thought I read something on this site about it.

Del Toro Talks MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS - Oct 26, 2007 - 10:43am
I really really really hope he gets to do this one. It's one of my favorite Lovecraft stories. It could definitely rank up there as a "tentpole" horror film as he calls it. It's atmospheric, it's dark and it's one of those stories that concentrates more on building tension and creeping you the F out rather than on things jumping out and going boo. It could be hard to convince people to do because of the reasons he mentioned (expensive and no happy ending), but I'd think that with his obvious talent people would let him do whatever the hell he wants.

Peter Berg directing DUNE Remake? - Oct 16, 2007 - 10:26am
I'm looking forward to this, as long as the studio keeps its trap shut and lets the director do his thing. I'm a big fan of the original, but the reason it's so disjointed and "boring" as some people say is because the producers and the studio basically took over from Lynch and wouldn't let him do what he wanted. As a result, he's disowned the film, refusing to talk about it in interviews. Even in the credits, he changed the screenwriter credit to "written by Judas Boothe" (for Judas and John Wilkes Boothe, both traitors). I love the book, I just hope people do their own jobs and not mess with other people's work. Then it might actually have a chance.

Del Toro Helming Lovecraft's MADNESS? - Oct 04, 2007 - 10:38am
This is one of my favorite Lovecraft stories. With Del Toro's style added to it, it could be an amazing film. Sucks that the strike is pushing it back so far though. What the hell is that about?

Blustering Over Barcodes - Oct 03, 2007 - 02:47pm
I think it's crap that Diamond can treat its customers and other publishers like that. I discovered another reason to dislike Diamond today. Shortly after checking out this column, I went to go pick up my pull for the week. Now, the comics shop I go to is closing at the end of the month. When I got there today, I found out that the owner had called Diamond to give them the heads-up about the end of the month, but instead of waiting until then, they went ahead and cancelled all of his orders now. So now he's not getting any new stuff for the rest of the time he's there and will just have to make do with selling older stuff. AARGHHH!!

Flying Low - Sep 27, 2007 - 11:21am
I love this movie, used to watch it all the time as a kid. While in some places it had a very typical story, in others it took a hard left into something different. It's great to see a review on it, but why is this article in the Books section?

Sarandon Joins LOVELY BONES - Jul 27, 2007 - 02:03am
News on this movie just keeps getting better and better. The character Sarandon is playing was one of my favorites in the book, she's a good choice. I hadn't heard that Tucci was cast, also a good pick. I'm definitely excited about this one!

Depp Loves DARK SHADOWS - Jul 27, 2007 - 02:01am
Sweeeeet. I loved watching this show on the SciFi Channel when I was home sick from school. Depp is a great addition, can't wait to see what else they come up with.

John Wayne - Genius - May 30, 2007 - 06:38pm
Is there some kind of exchange program for those of us that bought the Superman collection when it was first released? I didn't know anything was missing, and I don't think I should have to pay for their mistake. Anyone know anything?

Penny Dreadful - May 30, 2007 - 06:34pm
I've only seen Dark Ride (pretty typical slasher flick), Wicked Little Things (very "meh") and Reincarnation (which was actually really good). Figures the best one I've seen so far was made in Japan. Unrest looks interesting, and I'd like to see Penny Dreadful and Abandoned.

Hollywood Writers and Mainstream Acceptance - Apr 11, 2007 - 01:55pm
I dropped Wonder Woman after #4 and the release F-up, and now I'm considering dropping Action Comics and Superman due to those delays as well. Honestly, if they have to delay something, I'd rather they not fill in with other stories, just not release anything. It's just too damn confusing, and if it's confusing to someone who reads comics regularly, think of how bad it would be for someone who's trying to jump in? No wonder they can't get new readers.

"Sunshine" Poster - Mar 01, 2007 - 01:35pm
Seeing a title like "Sunshine" and Danny Boyle as director with Cilian Murphy somehow makes me think it could be a kick-ass vampire movie, but alas...

Del Toro talks more HELLBOY 2 - Sep 29, 2006 - 09:57am
Killer robots? Did they say KILLER ROBOTS?!? I'm so there. Yeah, Hellboy rocks too. Go del Toro!

CIVIL WAR - Sep 28, 2006 - 02:20pm
I don't know if any of you guys are reading any of the other tie-ins to CW, but the current arc of Iron Man (which, incidentally, isn't labeled as tied to CW, that's next month I think) gives some really good insight into why Stark is acting like he is and why he's chosen this path. Also, over in Wolverine, Logan is finding out some interesting and disturbing stuff about the reasons behind the Stamford incident (reasons which, though it's a stretch, you could parallel with the fallout of the Hurricane Katrina disaster). I'm finding it really helps to read these tie-ins!

Leondis Sees Eye to Eye With IGOR - Sep 22, 2006 - 09:31am
Hey jon1171, at least he's posting something different when he posts...

BATMAN/ SCARECROW: FEAR GIFT SET Action Figures - Sep 22, 2006 - 09:30am
So is this Bats figure modeled after Adam West, cause he's really sucking it in! lol

Batman Black & White Statue - Sep 22, 2006 - 09:28am
Is it just me or does it look like he's flashing passers-by?
