Are JERICHO Nuts Getting to CBS? - Jun 06, 2007 - 12:10pm
I hope this comes back. It was the only new sci-fi show last season that wasn't a glossy, pretentious mess. And it had heart! At the very least it would make for some kick-butt TV movies or miniseries similiar to those Jessi Stone pics they do with Tom Selleck that comes out every year or so. If they are worried about the cast they could definetly slim it down... just keep Skeet for sure. I say they do a few shocking deaths... like the mom... to spice things up. And really get into wrapping up the Hawkings stuff right out of the gate. I still can't believe it was cancelled with all the plot threads still on the table!!
LOST: Through the Looking Glass - May 24, 2007 - 01:43pm
Damn, we seriously have to wait 9 months until we see what happens next!! I'm excited about the flash-forwards being mixed into the show with the flash-backs... I just hope Jack can somehow correct the "mistake" so they don't end up in such a bad place once they leave the island. I don't even know how that would be possible unless the writers throw in the time-travel element... hmmm maybe Jack could somehow get Desmond to do it with all his mysterious powers?? Also, Jack should go looking for Michael if he wants to find the island again because didn't Michael get directions to and from the island when he escaped with Walt at the end of season 2?
It was interesting to see that Jack basically ends up as his father after leaving the island. And what about Kate... is she still a fugitive? Is the person she has to "get back to" Sawyer? So many captivating questions!
How well done was the Charlie death scene!?! Also, loved the part where Sawyer just straight up capped Mr. Friendly and then cooly said "I didn't believe him." Sawyer is going to be awesome next year as he struggles over killing the real Sawyer and possibly being a father with Kate. My question is does his other child -- Clementine -- factor into anything in a revelant way? I hope so because that was kind of a weird thing to introduce otherwise. But otherwise what a great year and what a great season-ender!
Smallville: Phantom - May 21, 2007 - 11:46am
Awesome episode. Though I know she isn't dead, it would be a good way for Chloe to go out. They had to do something with her because she isn't around in the post-Smallville superman world and having her assume a new identity or go crazy sounded lame. And just killing her wouldn't be surprising, but in the context of her saving Lois it somehow was. And now Lois can pick up the pieces and take on Chloe's reporter mantle in her honor -- maybe start investigating something Chloe was secretly looking into when she suddenly died. But if Chloe does come back to life it would be cool if the writers set up the drain this power takes on her and maybe she uses it all (and dies) saving Clark later next season.
Other than that, this episode really packed a punch and did a nice job with all the elements and was really focused with the characters. This is how a superhero show sould be done!
The Lionel stuff really works great, how he is more father to Clark now then Lex. I like the idea of Clark's mom going to Washington. Excited to see when Lana comes back into the picture (no way is she dead with that truck driving by before the bomb went off). Bizarro Superman was great, too! Looking forward to next year.
LOST: "The Man Behind the Curtain" - May 11, 2007 - 02:27pm
Did anyone notice that Richard hadn't appeared to have aged from when he first met young Ben and now? So is the secret to the island something to do with the fountain of youth, but the price of that is that you can't have children? But then is Ben's mom dying during childbirth off island just a coicidence? Thoughts anyone?
Taking the Good with the Bad: My Thoughts on Spider-Man 3 - May 09, 2007 - 01:15pm
At first I just thought it was okay, but the more and more I think about it the more and more I realize Sam Raimi dropped the ball with this one -- BIG TIME. It flat out stunk. When it was trying to be funny (such as the "darker Parker" strutting down the street hitting on women scene) it just came across as bizarre. The action was too over the top -- come on, Spiderman surfing down the highway on the back of an armored car door!?! I also found it hard to invest in the characters because they didn't have room to breath in the way too cramped storyline. I heard Venom was a last minute change from Vulture and it shows. The directing felt lazy and uninspired, especially the way the characters were all haphazardly connected (Eddie Brock and Gwen Stacy) and how vemon just landed right next to Peter when he first came to Earth. Come on! And I love the way it didn't even resolve in the end -- so it's okay to go and kill if it's for your sick daughter, Sandman? Just for kicks I rewatched Spiderman 2 and it just made me sad how far off part 3 was.
PIRATES to Open A Littler Earlier - May 08, 2007 - 11:48am
Once again it's all about the money! This just makes me not want to see it right away. That and the fact it's probably going to be as muddled and sucktastic as the second one.
ABC's LOST to End in 2010 - May 07, 2007 - 11:14am
Man, 2010 is going to be here fast! And when it is over, I'll miss the way Lost challengers it's viewers to really think in a TV day and age full of so much mindless proedural crap, and sci-fi shows which end up being fly by the seat of their pants smoke and mirrors.
LOST: The Brig - May 04, 2007 - 11:04am
This episode was freaking fantastic! Can't wait to see where they take Sawyer's character now... it really added a lot of depth to him. Also cool -- how the episode tied back into all the stuff from season one. I LOVE the way the writers set stuff up so far ahead so the payoff is that much more sweet. And what a story advancement from so many perspectives, mainly character growth and development. Thanks Lost!
Out of Gas - Apr 30, 2007 - 05:57pm
Forgot about Prison Break now that it's off the air until next season. As cheesy and over the top as it is, it's still a fun, escapist ride. Nice that it doesn't take itself too seriously as some other monday night programming does. And you can actually get behind the characters with this one.
Out of Gas - Apr 30, 2007 - 12:01pm
Man, if it wasn't for LOST there would be no reason to watch TV these days. What happened? Just two years ago we were in a golden age, but now everything is in a slump. Battlestar went nowhere this year, 24 is dragging along now that they've killed off the hearts of the show (Tony, Michelle, and David Palmer) and are forced to rely on a stoic Jack Bauer for emotional resonance, and Jericho doesn't seem to pack any punch anymore. Smallville has potential this year, but the CW hasn't made it easy to keep up with it during the last few months with all the start and stop airings. I sort of gave-up and am just going to catch it on DVD. But... thank you LOST for being so kick-ass and thought provoking. And thank you for characters that actually matter and actors who can actually act. Talk about gravitas! Lost f'ing rocks... can't wait to see what happens when Sawyer finds out the real Sawyer is on the island... will he kill him as the writer's set out for him to do way back in season one when he accidently killed the wrong guy?
Ridley Scott to direct "Nottingham" - Apr 30, 2007 - 11:51am
BIG MISTAKE. Seems as if this movie is being made for the sole fact it is an "interesting" take on the Robin Hood story. But really, who cares? So what if Nottigham is a misunderstood good guy and Robin Hood is the bad guy? So then it just becomes a story of a sheriff trying to stop a thief? Big whoop. Also, with Ridley Scott you don't know... this movie could either have some kick-butt action and heart ala Gladiator or it could be painfully slow and full of mindless fighting ala Kingdom of Heaven.
"Lost: D.O.C." - Apr 27, 2007 - 11:48am
C+? Seriously? I think it's time for a new reviewer. One who actually understands what the show is about. As far as nothing happening with Hurley, Jin and Charlie -- ummm, what about all the drama of trying to save a myserious visitor from dying while dealing with an Other at the same time who is the only one who can actually help save her? And how awesome was that sound effect when they let the air out of her wound! And does anyone know what she REALLY said to Patchy cause I know it wasn't "thank you"?
Again, Stephen Lackey, step aside for a new reviewer please.
"Get Smart" gets direct to DVD spinoff - Apr 24, 2007 - 11:42am
Show is lame. Does it even matter when any of them die? And hmmm... so what if something terrible happens to the world... let's just have the nerdy asian dude go back in time and stop it. THAT makes it REAL suspensful, right?
Abrams says Kirk in "Star Trek" - Apr 19, 2007 - 01:18pm
Oh man this movie is going to be awesome! How could it not be? I mean, look at what else the script writers have written: The Island, Zorro 2, and Mission: Impossible 3. With that track record how can it be bad? Oh wait, nevermind, it's a can't lose suck-fest for this movie. Oh, let's not forget the upcoming sticker that is The Transformers. Just when you though the Star Trek franchise couldn't sink any lower, leave it to a studio to drag it down further. If they were smart they would have given the writing duties to Nicolas Meyer for this one - not some lame duck BFFs of JJ Abrams.
"Lost: One of Us" - Apr 16, 2007 - 12:15pm
My first though in the teaser when Jack said Juliet was under his protection was that something had happened to Jack during that week he was with the others and we didn't see him. And now I find out the season finale is a Jack flashback... So there has definetly got to be something going on with Jack here. Then again he does get a little obssesed with woman he thinks he can help. I.e. his ex-wife, Kate and that tatoo girl from Phukett.
Also, they set up last week Sawyer having to be the new leader with Jack away so maybe a rift is coming where the Losties end up not trusting Jack anymore.
"Lost: The Man From Tallahassee" - Mar 23, 2007 - 12:51pm
Just... WOW. Amazing. This show has so much momentum going right now. Frankly, I don't even care about answers anymore... I love these "partial answers" as you called them -- as they make me think and question everything about the Lostverse. I can't wait until Sawyer finds out Locke's "dad" is the real Sawyer. Will Locke go against Sawyer to save his Dad? Hell, for all I know his "dad" might even be some kind of island manifestation. i.e. Eko's brother, Kate's horse or Shannon's sighting of Walt. I hope the writers don't kill him off right away, but if they do I will trust them completely to know what they are doing. God I just love how everything is slowly coming together and how this one element adds so much story possibilities to this show. I mean, what or who else will come out of the "magic box?"!!
"Lost: Par Avion" - Mar 16, 2007 - 11:42am
Pretty sure that was Claire's Aunt's house -- where Claire was staying after the car accident -- that Jack's father showed up at with Ana Lucia in season 2 -- and not anything to do with Charlie or his brother. I think it will be interesting if the other's reveal to Jack and Claire that they are related... I'm sure that the man with the list would know this. Also, we never did find out what happened with Jack's dad's body that disapeared from its coffin in season one... of course, the bears could have dragged it off. LOL.
On a side note, I love the way all the episodes of this show fit together like pieces to a puzzle so that every episode is important to the next one. I love the show's sense of foreshadowing, setup and payoff... like how stuff mentioned in season one gets answered in season three... it makes it feel connected and really shows that the showrunners know what they are doing and have planned the show out and aren't just making it up as they go along. And I love that in the end Lost will be one long, sprawling saga rather than a bunch of throw away episodes or even separate seasons strewn together -- which is the safe way to go these days for serialized shows without any balls.
"Star Trek" Plot Details - Mar 09, 2007 - 12:46pm
If this movie doesn't suck it will be a miracle. These writers are hacks. Did anybody else see The Island, Zorro 2, M:I 3 or read the script for Transformers. Based on that pile of dogshit, why would this movie be any different? Paramount must want this movie to suck -- why else would they hire these guys?
"Lost: Enter 77" - Mar 09, 2007 - 12:42pm
Great episode. The flashback dovetailed perfectly into the main storyline, and even if it didn't really tell us anything new about Sayid, it was great to see our favorite Iraqi finally get some serious facetime this season. Patches provided some serious tension, and Sawyer provided some much needed comic relief. Is it just me or does Josh Holloway seem beyond excited to be back with the main cast on the beach? Damon and Carlton need to write more episodes, as this show works best with them firmly at the helm.
