Independence Day 2 Gets a Release Date

Fox Shuffles Release Dates Around

The long awaited sequel to Roland Emmerich's Independence Day has been given a release date by Fox. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.

“20th Century Fox announced Thursday, June 20, that Independence Day 2 will open on July 3, 2015, the eve of the lucrative holiday that drove 1996's Independence Day to a stellar $50 million debut. Emmerich will return to direct and produce, but none of the original cast -- including lead Will Smith -- has been announced as returning as of yet”. - THR

Now all this is great for ID4 fans, however Fox has now shuffled around a few other release dates. Here are the new releases dates for the big Fox releases including the X-Men and Planet of the Apes sequels.

Peregrine's Home for Peculiars is set for July 31, 2015.
The Plot: The story follows a teenage boy who is transported to an island where he must help protect a group of orphans with special powers from creatures out to destroy them.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is now May 23, 2014. It flipped release dates with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which is now July 18, 2014.

Assassin's Creed, starring Michael Fassbender, has now moved back a month May 22, 2015, to June 19, 2015. This change in release is due to the release of Star Wars Episode VII, which could be slated for that very same week.

Really Zillaman, I could give two shuts about a sequel

millean 6/21/2013 8:51:37 AM

Much much much more excited about this sequel than any of those stupid Planet of the Apes movies...  :)

ID4 is actually one of my favorite movies.  I don't really even care if Will Smith is involved, I just want Bill Pullman back in some way, shape or form.  He doesn't have to still be the president, but he does still have to be in the film!  He is the one that made this movie for me.

Just curious, is anybody else now going to avoid that WWZ movie like the plague, or is it just me???

I hope Will and Englund return but his character now a General and Englund in charge of Area 51.

Millean, right there with you on World War Z...absolutely no interest whatsoever.  Looks dumb as shit.

mellowdoux 6/21/2013 10:17:55 AM

The only important info is... will Randy Quaid be back? ;)

RedShirtDecoy 6/21/2013 10:27:21 AM

Millean... he said during an interview for 1600 Penn that is is onboard with reprising his role.  He also eluded to the fact he likes where the character is going in this story and said he is glad its different from previous plot lines.  That tells me that the plot line that came out 10 years ago about the Prez going nuts because the Alien connected with him mentally is flushed down the drain... At least I hope so.  They also said if Will doesnt sign on they will have his Step son in the movie play one of the lead roles... kinda the son taking over for the father.

I do hope they stay true to some of the descriptions from the books... specifically War in the Desert.  :)

So Stoked about this!!

DarthoftheDead 6/21/2013 10:28:07 AM

Here's some info for you Guy's......

mellowdoux claim's that if the Xmen movie's bomb, Hollywood will stop making CBM's altogether.....
