A Knights Tale the TV Series

Changing your stars, every week

The mind who re-imagined Battlestar Galactica has yet another take on an existing property. Deadline and Comic Book Resources are reporting that Ron Moore looks to take the A Knight’s Tale and turn it into a weekly series for ABC.

Deadline reported the following: “the series is expected to stay close to the premise and the style of the movie – it is described as a medieval fantasy incorporating modern music and themes that follows the journey of a young man who starts out impersonating a knight of the realm and ends up becoming one.”

The possibilities are there for expansion in A Knight’s Tale. Moore though, has had little success with post Battlestar projects including Caprica, Hangtown and the 17th Precinct. So his track record of late as been spotty. Hopefully, with the right plot, it will be more about winning the fair maiden and “changing your stars”. It will have to be to sustain a full series.

The Plot of the original film: A Knight’s Tale, which starred Heath Ledger, Shannyn Sossamon, Alan Tudyk, Paul Bettany, Rufus Sewell and Mark Addy, told the story of a penniless squire (Ledger) who masquerades as a knight in order to win the prize at a jousting tournament.

Actually I thought the worst part of the movie was the modern music.  I always think the music should reflect the times they are in and use only instruments that would or could be around during that time.  I do like the synth music for Ladyhawke but my rule still applies.

The modern music was used to strengthen the parrallels to modern football/rockstardom so I didnt mind it.

I am actually down if they cast this right.  This is one of my favorite guild pleasure movies.  Right there with Pricess Bride.

Really? I thought the film was mediocre at best. I'll pass

The movie was pure fun. Popcorn at its best.

Paul Bettany killed it in this movie; liked the movie and I'd be down with a TV version.  Perhaps NBC could buy it up and replace Revolution which is absolutely terrible.

I've only seen the end of that movie and that didn't impress me enough to try and see it all. Maybe he can do something interesting with it.

Wait and see.

I'm with Storm, I thought the music was brilliant.  Brought the feeling of those times to us in a practical and easy way.  Plus when they mixed the old dancing to the new, wow that was perfect.  Really enjoyed that.  The movie was a joke.  The whole thing was a comedy with a twist of drama and romance.  Great movie, so funny.  There is so many jokes in that movie that scream from literature.  Excellent writting.  That said the series will fail.
