Mila Kunis ("That '70s Show," "Family Guy") is set to star opposite Mark Wahlberg in Max Payne, reports Variety. The adaptation of the Remedy/Rockstar series will be directed by John Moore. Beau Thorne wrote the script while Julie Silverman and Scott Faye are on board as producers. Tom Karnowski is executive producer.

Plot Concept:
Based on the video game "Max Payne" by Remedy. The story of a New York cop whose wife and baby are killed by thugs high on a designer drug called Valkyr. Devastated, the cop joins the Drug Enforcement Agency and goes undercover with the mob to find the source of the drug. Framed for the murder of his partner and hunted down by both the mob and the police, he is forced to wage a one-man war against crime. Wahlberg will play the titular cop. Kunis will play an assassin who teams up with the title character to avenge her sister's death.

Max Payne is currently set to hit theaters October 17, 2008.

While I only played the first game, loved it. I hope the movie stays true to the ambiance of the game, which was a nice mix of film noir and horror (the nightmare sequences).

Wahlberg's a perfect choice for Max. Excellent Likeness and he'll do a great job.

Alright!!! Another video game to film adaptation, I just love these. What? Uwe Boll isn't attached to this one? OH, this is going to suck.

I really wish Timothy Olyphant hadn't wasted himself on "Hitman" and had instead been part of this project, because for me he would have been the perfect Max. He looks like him, and he sounds like him.

Actually, this sounds like it could be a decent movie. Just ignore the fact that it is being adapted from a video game and just make a good action movie.

So a video game that was inspired by John Woo films and even incorporates some of his signature moves is now being made into a movie. Too bad Woo isn't making it. That would really be coming full circle.

As a big fan of the video game, I'm very excited about this. Maybe hollywood is learning from they're mistakes. Bruckhiemer's 'Prince of Persia' project sounds like it's shaping up. Despite a lot of hatred towards Kreuk as Chun Li, I think that she'll do it justice and the movie will be better than 'D.O.A.' (gots to have FAITH.) With Wahlberg in front of this and behind it, I believe he can pull it off. His movies 'The Corruptor', 'The Departed', and 'Four Brothers' has shown us his diversity and ability to get down and dirty.
As far as the John Woo thing rgtchitiger, you are definitely right. With the 'Bullet Time' and the jumping to the side while blazing two 9mm and other aspects of the game it would appear that they aimed for Woo's earlier look. Which is why I don't think that Woo could do this. He has drastically moved away from his earlier style and taken on a more American-Eye-Candy-Pop-Corn look. I know he's currently doing a movie in Hong Kong so I hope that he goes back to his roots with it.

I, too, am actually looking forward to this movie. I haven't seen Moore's remakes, but I did really enjoy "Behind Enemy Lines", and if he keeps the tone of the games in mind, this could be pretty kick-ass. Not a huge fan of Wahlberg, but this is a role that could be pretty good for him, I think. And with Moore directing, I'm betting that Marco Beltrami will score, which could be good (he's kinda hit-or-miss with me, but I'll give it a shot).

Not crazy about this bit of casting, though. Mona needs to be a woman, not a girl. Especially not one with such an irritating voice.

Was Ashton Kutcher or Danny Masterson not available?

This could be good, but dince it's a video game adaption, it will suck.
