The Review!
3 out of 5
Music found in the series Serial Experiments Lain.

This CD was set up with a six-page insert. The first page is an introduction paragraph from the producer of Lain Ueda Yasuyuki. The Second page contains English and Japanese lyrics to the image song Signal of Solitude. The next two pages are a full color centerfold of Lain playing the guitar. And the last two pages are the song title list complete with song lengths, and the CD/show credits.

Well, this one is interesting. It really has no genre per se as it draws from a varying amount of types of music. All I can say about what kind of music it is, and that is decent. The songs themselves do the job they were composed for, which is to illustrate feelings and moments within the series that animation could not portray alone. There really is nothing that stands out in particular as a great song or great music, but it is pleasing to the ear to have on in the background while working. I’m sort of on the fence as to whether I like this CD or not, as it really didn’t move me emotionally or spiritually, but it did keep me from yawning at my desk as I listened to it, so…

The music does tend to be on the low side, with certain melancholy turns, to the point where the rock type songs seem to be sad, or sadly done. Really not a whole lot that can be said about the music. The music is okay, the arrangements are decent, but the distinct lack of any real emotion, makes it a lower CD in my opinion.

I'd have to say not as bad as some, but certainly not as good either.

Fangboy says…It’s okay, but I’ve heard better.
