After a few months of discussing budget issues, Universal has greenlit the production for LAND OF THE LOST, an adaptation of Sid & Marty Krofft's children's series. Variety is reporting the studio agreed to the production when the budget was changed from 125 million to 100 million. The Kroffts, Jim Miller, Julie Wixson-Darmody and Daniel Lupi are executive producers while Brad Silberling is set to direct the film starring Will Ferrell. Production for this theatrical version of the series will begin by March 2008.
Plot Concept: Based on the 1974-77 television series, the movie revolves around a disgraced paleontologist (Will Ferrell), his assistant and a macho tour guide who find themselves in a strange world inhabited by dinosaurs, monkey people and reptilian Sleestaks.
