After a few months of discussing budget issues, Universal has greenlit the production for LAND OF THE LOST, an adaptation of Sid & Marty Krofft's children's series. Variety is reporting the studio agreed to the production when the budget was changed from 125 million to 100 million. The Kroffts, Jim Miller, Julie Wixson-Darmody and Daniel Lupi are executive producers while Brad Silberling is set to direct the film starring Will Ferrell. Production for this theatrical version of the series will begin by March 2008.

Plot Concept: Based on the 1974-77 television series, the movie revolves around a disgraced paleontologist (Will Ferrell), his assistant and a macho tour guide who find themselves in a strange world inhabited by dinosaurs, monkey people and reptilian Sleestaks.

Weren't there 2 kids in this? Don't remember the show all that well but I thought there was

Yea, there were 2 kids in it.
It was a father and his son and daughter.
If Will Ferrel is starring, you know this is being turned into a comedy.

Damn I wish they'd give him 2 kids so we can hear him yell "KIDS! GET OFF THE SHED!!" one more time

I love dinosaur movies but I hate most of Will Ferrell's movies.

I don't know how this can work. A family transported to dino-times with mysterious aliens. It was great a thriller serial for kids, but how do you translate that to a movie?

I guess you ripoff the subject and make it into a comedy.

a father that later got to return home only to be switched out by the 2 kids uncle.
(yes I know that.. I saw that episode)
Will Ferrell? uh.. ok is the movie going to be geared for kids like Spy Kids or a literal adaptation with moderate violence and a chance at a PG-13 rating? Will Ferrell isnt the man for this... hopefully he isnt one of the kids... it sounds like they've revamped the plot so much it could be a twist on Jurassic Park.

Yes this movie should be geared for kids this time. Not everything is for adults. Will Ferrell rulz! Hope he does his usual take on roles. He is on a roll.

No Will & Holly? Does that also mean No Chaka? What about the slezstacks? I am for this,,,I like WIll Farrell and the original show was so cheesy, but fun,,,this could make a very fun movie,,,,I would love to see them make this an action comdey.

Did Kevin Smith have a hand in this?

Marshall Willenholly has come full circle.

Why do they have to turn some of my favorite things from my childhood into projects that are less fun to watch?
