To be excited about playing the youngest adoptive mothers of one of the most classic comic superheroes of all-time doesn't seem like a stretch but as this deals with Warner Bros' and Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot of the Superman franchise, we'll pass it along just the same. Just a few weeks after Diane Lane was confirmed to take on the part of Martha Kent, the actress has told USA Weekend her thoughts on tackling the project. She seems pretty positive on the prospects:
“I’ve always wanted to raise a good man. I thought that was the biggest challenge a woman could have, and so I get the embarrassment of riches," Lane says to the paper. The actress adds "[That it's] going to be a wild ride. I’m very flattered to play Martha Kent and live up to his vision. It’s pretty cool.”
For their part, Warner Bros. Pictures has yet to confirm via official announcements on the persistent rumors that Kevin Costner has been cast as Jonathan "Pa" Kent or Viggo Mortensen has been set as General Zod. With the studio fast-tracking this production for a winter 2012 release, we shouldn't have that long to wait before the casting revelations come out.
Director Zack Snyder is helming the reboot of the Superman franchise, based on a screenplay by David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan. Batman director and producer Chistopher Nolan is overseeing the development as producer.
Superman will fly into theaters December, 2012.
