LAST SAMURAI gets Connolly, Goldwyn and Spall

THE LAST SAMURAI is coming together in casting and is set to star shooting in a few months. The latest evidence:
Billy Connolly (TIMELINE, MRS. BROWN), Tony Goldwyn (THE 6TH DAY, TARZAN) and Timothy Spall (VANILLA SKY) have all signed to join Tom Cruise in the tale of a U.S. soldier recruited to fight a samurai army in Japan only to be captured by the enemy and persuaded to fight along side the samurai warriors.
Ed Zwick (GLORY, THE SIEGE) is set to direct from a script by John Logan (GLADIATOR, STAR TREK: NEMESIS).
