James Horner has been very busy lately. According to the Gorfaine-Schwartz Agency, after THE CHUMSCRUBBER, THE LEGEND OF ZORRO, FLIGHTPLAN and THE NEW WORLD, Horner will turn his attention to Steven Zaillian's new film, ALL THE KING'S MEN. Scheduled to get a limited release in December, to be included in the Oscar race, and wider distribution following in January next year, the film is based on the novel by Robert Penn Warren and stars Sean Penn as a charismatic Southern politician. The impressive cast also includes Jude Law, Kate Winslet, James Gandolfini and Anthony Hopkins. Steven Zaillian, the writer/director who still is best known for his SCHINDLER'S LIST screenplay, previously worked with James Horner on SEARCHING FOR BOBBY FISCHER.
Horner has a good chance to get a couple of Oscar nominations this year. THE NEW WORLD, the upcoming Terrence Malick film, and ALL THE KING'S MEN both look like typical Academy Award films.
