The latest trailer for Baz Luhrmann's western epic Australia has appeared online and on TV courtesy of MSN. Baz, who hasn't directed since his 2001 hit Moulin Rouge, also co-wrote the screenplay with Stuart Beattie. The film stars Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, David Wenham, Jack Thompson and Bryan Brown.

Plot Summary: "Australia" is an epic and romantic action adventure, set in that country on the explosive brink of World War II. In it, an English aristocrat (Nicole Kidman) travels to the faraway continent, where she meets a rough-hewn local (Hugh Jackman) and reluctantly agrees to join forces with him to save the land she inherited. Together, they embark upon a transforming journey across hundreds of miles of the world's most beautiful yet unforgiving terrain, only to still face the bombing of the city of Darwin by the Japanese forces that attacked Pearl Harbor. With his new film, Luhrmann is painting on a vast canvas, creating a cinematic experience that brings together romance, drama, adventure and spectacle.

Australia will hit theaters Nov. 26, 2008.

Just going off the trailer itself. I think its going to get alot of comparison to Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor, which is probably not a good start. Also, I was thinking 'Far and Away' with the love story.

I liked Baz Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet & Moulin Rouge, plus two actors i rather enjoy watching so I was going to be there before I even saw the first trailer.

Wow, looks like no one cares about this film on this site. 1 comment only and it's been on the whole day? Kinda sad.

I for one will more than likely pass on this film and wait for video.

Same here, hanso. I think the first released trailer grabbed me a little more than that one did. I'm also not all that surprised to see the lack of interest... This is a genre site, afterall, and as far as I can tell the only connection to this fan base is Hugh Jackman... that's a tenuous link, at best.

Well, I think this is a movie I'll be too busy to see. Looks good, but not enough to find time for. Though I would like to see it.

Hanso,
Not too many people have any interest in Lurhmann anymore and even less in Kidman. My previous post/rant about this film says it all so i wont repeat all of it but Kidman gets far too much exposure in this country and its time for her to move on. She has become a death sentence for any movie she is attached to.
Not even great actors like Jack Thompson in his twilight could save this piece of crap. You'd be better off watching the classic 'Sunday Too Far Away' for his outback best

i love nicole kidman. sure shes overpaid but damn she deserves alot for being awesome. after watching birth and fur... man, she became one of my favorite actresses. hugh jackman has only gotten better as well. im looking forward to this movie now. never actually watch the trailer until just now and man, i wish i hadnt waited so long. prolly will wait for dvd at least.

props to the trailer for using Explosions in the Sky. they are one of my faves bands.

It would be funny to stick every pop Australian actor in this movie. I won't be seeing this movie unless it's on cable. I don't like Nicole Kidman anymore, I don't hate her like LaBlah, but she does not act the way she used to, she's kinda a douche now.

Now I think she's great and so is Jackman. Just think the movie will be long and slow and isn't worth seeing on the big screen, now that I have a widescreen 1080p.
