Ledger, Stunt Players Get SAG Awards
More kudos for 'The Dark Knight' this week, according to a Variety posting.
Heath Ledger collected another posthumous award for his work as The Joker in the film last night. The Screen Actors Guild held their 15th annual awards ceremony.
Ledger was given the "Supporting Actor" nod over the likes of Josh Brolin ('Milk'), Robert Downey, Jr. ('Tropic Thunder'), Philip Seymour Hoffman ('Doubt') and Dev Patel ('Slumdog Millionaire').
The stunt players for the film also picked up award in the "Stunt Ensemble" category. They aced out the largely comic-based competition from films like 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army', 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull', 'Iron Man' and 'Wanted'.
GREEN HORNET stung?
HitFix.com reports that the planned and much-discussed 'Green Hornet' movie will likely crash again.
Fans recall that actor/director Stephen Chow abruptly bailed out of the project last December, just three months after he was announced as both directing and appearing as Kato in the film.
Columnist Drew McWeeny states that he's heard talk from people at the Sundance film festival that the Sony had pulled the plug on the project. Some follow up from "a source close to the film" refrained from declaring the project dead, but said it's unlikely that the movie will roll cameras this year. This means Sony won't be able to meet the announced release date of June 25, 2010.
Mignola Posts HELLBOY II Pics
If you're on Facebook and a friends with Mike Mignola, you'll find a dozen or so cool behind-the-scenes photos from the Budapest filming of 'Hellboy II: the golden Army'. These are candid photos taken by Mike and his family during their visit to the set.
Sam Jackson Still Fury-ous over IRON MAN 2
At a recent press event, actor Samuel L. Jackson reiterated for IGN comments he previously made about the prospect of appearing in 'Iron Man 2' as S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury.
When asked if he was doing the part, Jackson said, "I'm not real sure that I'm gonna to have the opportunity to do that again because we've been having some difficulty coming to an agreement."
When asked if he wanted to do the part the actor said, "I would love to do it. I'm not sure that they would love for me to do it. It seems as though they're having money problems."
He then laughed and added, "'Iron Man' One didn't make much money so they can't afford to pay the rest of us anything."
Here's the clip:
Sommers says G.I. JOE to be like Classic Bond
'G.I Joe' director Stephen Sommers recently talked with EW's Hollywood Insider Blog who got right down to the critical question about the film: Did he make actress Sienna Miller (who plays the Baroness in the film) wear fake breasts and explain the decision to her by saying "I'm gonna be honest, I like girls with big boobs"? That was, at least, a story that circulated in UK papers.
Not surprisingly Sommers laughs off the rumor.
"Everybody here laughed because they know I would NEVER say that to an actress," says the filmmaker. "I guess the costume department gave her a tight fitting bra, but no one gave her rubber breasts or whatever. It is 100 percent Sienna Miller."
Miller's boobs aside, Sommers also commented on his actual inspiration for the film.
"I always loved the old Bonds," he says. "It's funny now how Bond wants to be Bourne. I loved Quantum of Solace, but it was like, man, this is a completely different movie to the Bonds I grew up with. In a very contemporary way, G.I. Joe is inspired by the memory of the kind of movies I saw when I was younger. I remember being in the theater for Thunderball and the big underwater battle at the end of that movie just blew my socks off. In G.I. Joe, there's an underwater battle under the polar icecap that's Thunderball times 10!"
You know I had a good feeling the Green Hornet film was gonna die just like Burton's Superman Lives. The whole idea of Rogen being the Green Hornet and making it a comedy and Chow being Kato is just a slap in the face to Van Williams and Bruce Lee.I want to see the Green Hornet done right plus as much as I'm a huge fan of Batman I thought that show was far superior then the Batman tv show.I always thought George Clooney would've made a much better Green Hornet then being Batman.I know everyone says Jet Li for Kato and I'm down for that but I like Collin Chou who was Seraph in the Matrix sequels.
Marvel needs to fix their money problems don't want to see them go through bankruptcy again if their money problems are that bad.
Sommers does have a point a little bit on the Bond films today.Don't get me wrong I think the new ones are great but that's made the Bond films so great were the villains, the henchmen, the women, the gadgets, the cars and the villains lair's.So I would like to see some of that a little bit in the new Bond films especially Q you gotta have Q and Money Penny. But hopefully we'll get that teaser trailer of G.I.JOE on Super Bowl Sunday so we can get an idea on how it's gonna look style wise.Cause I'm not down on how everyone's uniform looks the same the only ones that look good to me is Snake-Eyes,Scarlett,Heavy Duty,Baroness and Storm Shadow looks alright.I also hope Cobra Commander looks good and not like crap.
