Remember last week's report that a 300 prequel is in development from interviews coming out of the 34th Saturn Awards? Well, Variety has confirmed that a follow-up is indeed getting developed by comic author (and director) Frank Miller. The only issue is the announcement cannot confirm whether it's a prequel, as previously reported, or if it's a spin-off to the 2007 smash hit.

The trade also confirms that original director Zack Snyder---who recently wrapped up filming on Watchmen---is interested in this next story by Miller though he won't officially commit to leading production until he sees the finished concept. Legendary Pictures is keeping the project on their high priority list.

"The vision of Frank Miller's universe that Zack Snyder brought to the screen in '300' is unlike anything ever seen before," said Legendary's Thomas Tull. "We want to be certain that the story originates with Frank and be as compelling as the first."

300 is the #1 All-Time March Opener and #1 All-Time Spring Opener with it gathering up $70.8 mil on March 9-11, 2007. It also became the highest R-rated grosser of 2007 with a domestic gross of $210.6 mil and would go on to gross $456.0 mil worldwide with a budget of only $65 mil.

I'm going with Hanso on this, screw a 300 prequel (though, it'd be cool) and make a God of War movie already. I remember the first time I heard Gerard Butler yell in that movie and I thought, "That mother... is Kratos" and my dream movie starring him started rolling in my head. Though, I don't know who should direct such a movie...no, I think Del Toro should...could be I'm drunk and got him on my mind for some reason though. I don't know why. Did I just read an article on him? Eh, dunno.

But, I can wait for a God of War movie becasue I don't want anyone to rush it. I heard word on one but very prelimanary and forgot what the article said but it defintely doesn't need to be rushed. Take your time Sony and company. The story's alread there. Hydras, demons, statues, and orcs, Oh my!

By the way. Just beat Metal Gear Solid 4 the second night I got it three days ago. I played for twelve hours straight in two session apparently...and I was thinking the whole time that Zach Snyder should direct a Metal Gear movie, with maybe John Woo as acton coordinator. Or just Zach by himself. But diffenently Zach, as apparently, he's awesome and hasn't done original material yet. Not that I'm knocking him. He's the shizzo.

So this will just be a bunch of made-up crap not based on anything right?
I'll probably go see the stupid thing, cause i loved the first, but man I just don't think this needs to be done. Sometimes they just need to leave good enough alone.

And MrJaw, I'd be pissed if I beat a game so quickly. It can't be good if it's over so fast. Don't you feel ripped off of the $60 you spent?

The imagery was kick ass in this movie, but as a whole I didn't think it was that great of a film. I would consider seeing a sequel if it comes out at a time when I need a dose of action and there's no other viable options.

Now, make a film about 300 scantily clad and/or topless women fighting to mud wrestle their mortal enemy off a cliff, and I'm there!

Possible Titles:
300 x 2
600
300: Mountains of War

"topless women fighting to mud wrestle their mortal enemy off a cliff"
Wow, that's an image. And those Spartan women could od it too. Ok sign me up for opening day.

Almost Unbiased, Nah, I didn't play how you were supposed to play. I didn't get a good rating. I just ripped through it blasting everyone. I'm on my second playthrough trying to do it right and it's alot harder and more fun. I was going to say funner. Heh heh. Sobering slowly.

And twenty four hours aint' that quick. But there was a whole crap load of cutscenes. Some an hour long. There's so much stuff to do and on my second playthrough I notice now that I missed alot.

I beat Metal Gear 4 also, but not as fast as Mr.jaw and believe me theres no way that you can feel jerk by that game. Metal Gear 4 is one of the best games out there right now. A spin off for 300? How is that? I thought it would just be considered a sequel. I have to wait and see what they mean.

They already said it would be a prequel I thought.

And thanks for the info, I might get it then if MGS4 is quality and difficult.

You know how I know MrJaw is gay? cause he has del Toro on his mind! Zing!!

Word on the God of War movie MrJaw, that shit needs to get made. I got the director for it already, Mel Gibson. Mel Gibson + GoW = the bloodiest, most violent movie ever put on film.
Studios want to mess around with a 300 sequel/prequel, Clash of the Titans but if they want a real kick ass flick about a motherfrakin Spartan, then Kratos is the only way.

Screw the "based on history regardless of how loosely" stuff and just go completely fantasy. Make it a young Leonidas earning his stripes, battling mosters and wizards. Basically make it Conan lite.
