It seems to be a week where former "Sarah Connor Chronicles" stars are officially moving on to other greener pastures. Two days after Summer Glau was cast in Whedon's "Dollhouse", actress Lena Headey has been tapped to star in HBO's upcoming fantasy pilot, Game of Thrones, based on the George R.R. Martin books.

Plot Concept: Story centers on Martin's fantasy novels that chronicles a battle among seven kingdoms and two ruling families for control of the Iron Throne. Lena Headey will play Queen Cersei of House Lannister, wife of King Robert (Mark Addy) and sister of twin brother Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and outsider younger brother Tyrion (Peter Dinkladge). Sean Bean stars as the battle-weary Ned Stark, who leaves his home to serve the king.

This is such great casting news.  She will be great as Cersei.  Seeing as I've only seen her as a heroine, it will be interesting to see her play a coniving, manipulative, incestuous, bitch.  With this amazing cast HBO will have to pick up this show.  I just hope it does incredibly well so they can actually do the planned seven seasons.  That's assuming George Martin finishes the series in the next eight years.  At the rate they are written the show may very well catch up to the books before he even finishes the series.  I can't wait for this to get on tv.

Sgt .. are you seriously using Smallville as the bar for great network television?  Really?

I haven't read any of the Game of Thrones books yet. I just recently bought the first one, and it's next on my list. I really liked the Wild Card books that I have read, and have heard great things about this series, so I'm hoping they're good.

Speaking of books, every time I go to Borders, I keep seeing the Dante Valentine series by Lilith Saintcrow. Has anyone read any of these?  Are they any good?  I've glanced at the beginning of the 1st book, and it seemed decent from what I read. If anyone has read them, it would be the Mania crowd...

Ugh....I like her but I don't know about the role. She'll have to dye her hair blonde which isn't a really big deal but I think they could have done better.  I like the no name actors for this more than someone that we know.

Not purty enough for Cersei in my opinion.

Sean Bean & Lena Headey are both solid actors and HBO is synonymous with quality I expect this to be good.

You've got some crazy high standards if Lena is not pretty enough.  She looked gorgeous in 300.  And with the amount of skin she'll most likely bare due to the books' copious amounts of nudity and the fact that it's on HBO, no man should be complaining.

And why are people online making a big fuss about her hair?  Who really cares if they dye her hair blond or not.  It's all about how she plays the role that will sell it, not about how she looks.  Sure everyone wants the actors to look like what they pictured in their heads, but honestly, the looks are secondary to their acting abilities.  If they can't bring life to the character, it won't matter how close they look like them.  So as far as the known actors are concerned, (Bean, Dinklage, Heady, Addy) I'm quite happy because I know they can all act.  The unknown actors may look the part, but I want to see how well they play their roles before praising or panning them.

My only problem is she looks too much older than the guy they got to play Jaime, Cersei's twin.  Based on the clues GRR Martin had given on his site, I seriously thought this role was going to Sophia Myles, who I think would be better aesthetically, but I don't mind Headey.

Yeah, I've got "crazy high standards" because I don't think Lena Headley is beautiful enough to play Cersei Lannister, one of the hottest women in AGoT.  I didn't say she looked like an old boot, I said she just doesn't live up to what I've imagined Cersei to look like.  Lena's hot, no question, just not Cersei hot.  I think I'll still tune in despite this casting.  Honestly I'm more concerned with Brienne of Tarth and what ugly ass chick they'll get to play her.
