In a recent interview with Sci Fi Wire, Lena Headey talked about the upcoming fox pilot, The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

"We just finished [shooting]," Headey said. "We were in Albuquerque  for a month. And it was very intense, because TV is crazy. I mean, it's long days. It's like boom, boom, boom. You don't get any respite. But ... I think it's going to be great. I don't know if its going to be picked up, because it's only in pilot stage right now. But I learned to shoot many weapons and how to recognize a Terminator. So it was a good experience."

The pilot "begins, and it's them basically running, hiding, trying to live," Headey said. "Trying to carve out a normal life for themselves, but always being watched and trying to locate Skynet, trying to stop [it]. But there are many, many issues in their way."

KJ's Take:  This will be interesting to take a look at if it makes it to the network, which it will.  I'm just not sure it's something I want to see ...

Hopefully this is gonna be really good. It has to do with Terminator, so its got a chance already.

When was the last time someone in an upcoming pilot said, "I think this is pretty bad, but I'm hoping it will work out."

"But there are many, many issues in their way." Issues like "Dawson's Creek issues" or issues like Killer robots?

Teabaggin you hit it right on the... er, chin. What's going to make or break this show is what "issues" they have to deal with. Let's hope they're not mommy/son "Dawson's Creek" issues as you stated - but something tells me that this is the path this one's taking. ...Oh I hope I'm wrong.

I certainly hope you guys are wrong and this isn't taking a Dawson's Creek route. Blah.

I imagine you'll have to have "Dawson's Creek" storylines. After all it is a hot mom and and teenage son. Both of them will probably try to have relationships with other people and maybe consider having a normal life, but then those pesky cyborgs will get in the way. I hope they don't turn it into a Terminator of the week kind of show.

OKay, so some of you don't want the "Dawson's Creek" character mommy/son stories, and some of you don't want a "Terminator of the week" kind of stories...WELL THEN WHAT IS ANOTHER OPTION THAT SHOW CAN HOPE TO DELIVER? I really don't care enough about this show to have an opinion, I'm just curious. I would say I think it's a bad idea to do shows based on movies, but some sci-fi people are REALLY easy to please...I still say I hate the "Stargate" shows. If you don't want to see character development or a terminator of the week, what DO you want to see?
darthcaifan 3/5/2007 11:25:11 AM
to me the terminator saga started with the first one and ended with the second one, if cameron is not involved, then i dont care...

TKay42one, who said we don't want character development? As for "terminator of the week," that could get real old real quick if they are constantly on the run from one gimicky terminator to the next. What do I want from this show? I would like it to not suck. :)

I see your point TKay42one. With this concept it does seem like it has to be one or the other or a combo. Like I said I don't mind a some Dawson's. But on the show Smallville they fell into a pattern the first season of Kryptonite freak of the week which became repetitive. Hopefully they will have them deal with other problems. This would follow the tried and true Fugitive show concept. This involved the show's hero accused of murdering his wife and running from his relentless police pursuer while searching for the one armed man who was the actual killer. Along his travels, in each episode he would run into different people and situations and inevitably become involved with their stories. This concept was so successfull it was copied numerous times (Kung Fu, Incredible Hulk, Battlestar Galactica, among others).
