EXTRA TV chats with Leonardo DiCaprio about Martin Scorsese's GANGS OF NEW YORK. "It was a whole world I never knew about," the star says.

DiCaprio notes, "Cameron was absolutely that little drop of sunshine in a really dark and muddled world," regarding co-star Cameron Diaz.

"I remember Marty coming in and saying, 'The way I work, she's going to hit you for real.' And he does 30, 35 takes and she repeatedly hit me and you get dizzy after a while."
