In less than a week, the United States of America will have its 44th president. The clouds will part, the birds will chirp, the sun will shine, candy might even fall from the sky, opening up like a giant pinata.

To celebrate President-elect Obama's inauguratation on Jan. 20 , 2009, Marvel comics has released a special edition comic called "Spidey Meets the President!"

The comic, written by Zeb Well with art by Todd Nauck and Frank D'Armata is available in comic book shops across the country today, Jan.14. The story takes place in Washington, D.C. on Inauguration Day, with a nemesis of Spiderman attemping to obliterate the swearing in ceremony of Obama.

Television Shows That I Miss

-La Femme Nikita

Something recently sparked my memory of when I used to spend hours thinking of Michael and Nikita, their heartbreaking romance and all the crime they had to fight in between. Single-handedly my favorite show next to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Based on the Luc Besson film of the same name, this series was close to amazing - it had everything, drama, romance, action. I recently looked up the box set on Amazon and it was going for more than $200. Although I have been in crazy fan girl mode the last couple of days and have been incessantly Youtubing episodes, I don't think I'm ready to fork over that much money just yet. I'm hoping to rent it on Netflix. Wait for me, Nikita.

-Gargoyles

Gargoyles was one of the best animated and dramatic series out there. I dont think there was a day that I didn't watch it. I was glued infront of the t.v., watching the drama of Goliath, his fellow Gargoyls and Elisa the human, whom Goliath was in love with unfold. The story is quite complex and was definitely intended for an older audience and I've come to the realization that my days aren't quite the same without a daily dose of Gargoyls.

-Captain Planet

With these powers combined, I am Captain Planet! My second favorite animated series next to Gargoyles, Captain Planet was the show with an eco-conscience. This show could totally make a come back today and be more relevant than it was in the 90s. The five Planeteers that combined to form Captain Planet were: Earth (Kwame), Fire (Wheeler), Wind (Linka), Water (Gi) and Heart (Ma-Ti)

Each of the elements represented a major ethnicity as well. What an amazing show and idea. I miss it so much - someone please bring it back.

-Out of this World

You remember this one, don't you? You must.  Evie Garland is a young girl who discovers that she's half-alien on her father's side. Because of her heritage, she has supernatural powers including teleportation and my favorite, freezing time. I was only about 3-years-old when this show first debuted, but I caught up when it went to syndication.

-Dinosaurs

Whoever thought of making a show based around the lives of a family of anthropomorphic dinosaurs should b thanked, because it provided me with hours of entertainment.  The Sinclair family consists of Earl and Fran, with son Robbie, daughter Charlene and a baby dinosaur simply called Baby Sinclair, who actually had  a plethora of catchphrases, the most popular being "I'm the baby! Gotta love me!" Oh, nostalgia. I miss you so. Come back and bring me Dinosaurs.

Twilight Sequel to be Directed by Chris Weitz

12/11/2008 5:38:23 PM permalink

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that following Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke's exit from directing "New Moon," Chris Weitz has signed on the direct the sequel.

For the original article, click here

I think I'm pretty confident that "New Moon" will be much better executed than "Twilight" was, not only because the material Weitz has to work with is well-written ( New Moon is a world away from Twilight), but because he's directed "About a Boy," and I love that film.

For a fan made trailer of "New Moon," click here - it's really good.

I am ready to be dazzled.

Wall-E is Best Picture of the Year for Los Angeles Film Critics

12/10/2008 2:56:39 PM permalink

The Los Angeles Film Critic Association awarded the animated film "Wall-E" the Best Picture of the Year honor for 2008, with the runner up as box-office hit "The Dark Night."

"Wall-E," the story of a pollution-cleaning robot who falls who finds love and ends up on a whirlwind adventure, was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures and has grossed a worldwide total of $494,704,223 as of Dec. 7, 2008/

Other notable genrefilms and actors that landed on LAFCA's list include Heath Ledger, who won the Best Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of the Joker in "The Dark Night" as well as producer John Calley, who won the Career Achievement award. Calley has worked on such films as "The Da Vinci Code," "Closer," "Catch 22" and the upcoming "Angels & Demons."

One of the most deserving films to receive an award however is the winner of the animation category, "Waltz with Bashir," directed by Ari Folman. This Oscar-nominated film focuses on the 1982 Sabra and Shatila Massacre during the Lebanon War. An absolutely breathtaking and thoughtful film, "Waltz with Bashir" will have you thinking about it for days. A definite must see, in my opinion.
