Liman Sets Kung Fu Comedy at NBC

Doug Liman and writer Dave Caplan are teaming up on a kung fu comedy for NBC.

The untitled half-hour show revolves around a pair of brothers who find themselves taking care of their mom and her restaurant. In order to afford her dream retirement home, they're forced to become bounty hunters -- and they decide to use the martial art of kung fu rather than firearms to get the job done.

Dave Caplan will write the pilot, which will be based on an idea from NBC Universal's Katie O'Connell. Caplan studies Wing Chun and is a former private investigator. Doug Liman, Dave Caplan and David Bartis will executive produce.

I can see foley artists setting gongs up and every imaginable item that makes a swoosh sound ... let's not forget the side of beef being smacked too...

Now this is a shocker...not. I will probably record this just for the sake of remembering how retarded these television people really are.

Ahhhh, the sound of a piece of beef being slapped on a formica counter-top...kung-fu goodness...sigh, and I had such high hopes for Mr. Liman after his Bourne films...

Perhaps no potential (as if there is with this one) with Krav maga.
