We're going to have to work within the realm of our imagination here, Maniacs. All we have to report on this mysterious new project is keywords. Big sci-fi project. Multi-media franchise potential. "LOST" producer/writer Damon Lindelof. 1952. So says Deadline who's reporting that Lindelof has just inked a 7-figure deal with Disney to original large-scale science fiction feature called 1952.

The online trade reports the ultra-secret project came out of a series of meetings that Lindelof had with Disney's production president Sean Bailey and senior exec Brigham Taylor, and it's the first film that Lindelof is producing from the ground up. Since ending the run of Lost and serving as one of the show's architects all the way through, Lindelof has been a hot commodity on the writing scene.  He teamed with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to script the Jon Favreau-directed Cowboys & Aliens, rewrote Ridley Scott's 3D Alien prequel and helped turn it into an original film called Prometheus. And has been tasked with co-writing a Star Trek sequel for Abrams.

You can form theories down below on what 1952 will be about...

Ultra-secrecy is their modus operandi. They put more effort into that than they do anything else.

1952... Could it be about the year of our Lord, Nineteen-Hundred and Fifty-Two?

Maybe he will be able to really wrap up plotlines within the confines of a two hour movie.

Bet it has something to do with all the UFO activity over Washington DC that year.

So now it's an Alien prequel again?  I thought Ridley deep six the Alien angle when he realized he has a good movie that didn't need them?

It's going to be about hamsters.

No, I don't have any inside info. I just think it would be funny to have an epic sci-fi film all about hamsters...

...and pickles.

Hobbs, I've actually gotten really excited about the prometheus project and went to the wiki page yesterday. It says it is still an original movie but scott says there will be obvious nods to alien, we'll see. It sounds really cool though despite what little we have to go off of. And although this Lindelof project is still in early stages I'll give it a shot. The guy has a pretty decent track record.

I don't get the "ultra-secret" production crap, sure it builds interest to those who may not know any better but do they really think they're gonna show us something we haven't seen before?  You can publish the entire screenplay online and it still wouldn't mean it's gonna be good or bad.  As we've all seen they can take the best ideas and the best premise and still deliver a shit film!  It also works in reverse although far less often.  Give us something to get excited about and watch the lines form on opening day!!!!!  Keep as much as you can hidden from us and the expectations will grow so high that the only direction to go will be down!
