This looks to be a quality Dalek story.  We haven't had one of those in a long time.

Definitely not the late august start that was hinted at by some papers.

I checked this Saturday's schedule and nothing has been listed. So maybe October for the autumn / fall period. That would give a smaller gap between the the mid-season hiatus and the Christmas show.

I doubt it will be before 15th Sept as the Paraolympics will be on BBC TV up to the 9th.

 The Ponds?  Did Rory take Amy's name when they got married?

It looks as though Doctor Who will begin September 8th in the US.  BBC America had this date on their site briefly, and quickly had it removed.  They do not have the second week of September on their schedule, but the week before, BBCA is airing the complete sixth season.

redhairs- That's the joke made in The Big Bang (season 5 finale).

Plus it is consistent given that her daughter's name is Melody Pond so either Amy just kept her name after marriage or the arc wasn't thought out well enough until it became an issue- that is always possible as well-as Williams didn't fit into the puzzle created for who Melody becomes. 

Though if you look carefully (and quickly) the TARDIS blue envelope that Amy and Rory receive at the begining of The Impossible Astronaut looks to be addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Pond so if it is good enough for the Doctor...  :)

 Betenoire, yeah, I think it's just my general loathing of the character Amy Pond and that horrid storyline last year that completely ruined the character of River Song.  Oh well, at least (spoilers)

Amy Pond will be gone soon enough (though I do like Rory).  I missed that episode of Big Bang.  My wife and I didn't watch the show until this past winter and we bought the first 4 season on DVD and didn't see any of season 5 yet.
