It's not a question of whether a 36 year old chick is considered hot or not, it is oh course in the dynamic of how her age changes the credibility of the story. I have nothing against Amy Adams, but are you trying to say that she brings somehing to the table that another younger, yet also good actress could not have done in the role? i'm not talking about a 4 year difference people she is nearly 10 years older than the lead actor! Is this what they meant by a different take on Superman? I understand getting 20 somethings to play high school kids because they can get into the nude scenes without the issues, but why this 36 year old actress in this part? Are you telling me that there are no younger actresses that can pull off Lois Lane? Is this a stage production of Shakespeare all of a sudden? Seth Rogen as the Green Hornet now this.

Eric, have you ever SEEN Amy Adams in a movie? Are you telling me you can tell by looking at her that she's 36?

Amy Adams is perfect, if she brings the spunk that she had in The Fighter then she nails Lois.

and yeah she looks way younger, she is a year older than me and I would have guessed her mid to late twenties.

This is great news. She is an awesome actress and gorgeous to boot. I haven't seen her in a bad performance yet. It's also kind of sweet that she has ties to the Superman mythos already since she was in one of the first episodes of Smallville where she played a fat girl  who started losing weight by drinking veggie shakes that consisted of Kryptonite infected plants. She even did a great job in that episode. I can't believe an actress that came on Smallville has gone on to be an oscar nominated actress.

This girl is way too hot and way too talented to even think her age could be a factor or deterrent.  BIG score for the production!  This many talented people in one cast can't and won't allow for anything less than a stellar movie!!  It looks like Viggo exiting the doomed Snow White project could be happening at an all too convenient time!  If they anounce him cast next it'll be a sweep as far as I'm concerned!

This is a good choice.  death4sale, thanks for the trip down memory lane!  I totally remember her devouring a deer or something in the first season of Smallville.  Yeah, she certainly has come a long way since then.

As for the age thing, I don't think it's that big a deal.  Cavill and I are actually about the same age (he's a week or two older I think) and I remember seeing Adams when she guest-starred on The Office and thinking that she was around the same age as me.  They actually called her a younger/hotter version of Pam on the show, which is hilarious because I think Jenna Fischer is just as gorgeous.  Adams may be older, but she can definitely play younger.

Personally, I think it works for the movie.  As mentioned before, I enjoy the version with Lois being the veteran journalist of the team and being more like Clark's senior job-wise at the Daily Planet.  Adams will do a good job no doubt.

Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Diane Lane as Martha Kent...gives new meaning to "up, up and away."  ;)

Wasn't Margot Kidder like 20 years older than Christopher Reeve?

This may be a first, usually the complaint is that they went with a too young actress ala Bosworth. I don't think this is even an issue, Adams looks younger than she is and is extremely beautiful. Plus like some have alluded to, an older Lane actually seems to make more sense if only because she's supposed to be a fairly accomplished reporter by the time she meets Superman/Clark

@ eric770...Adams' age is a non-factor. She looks young, not that mid-30s is old to begin with. Plus, It's always seemed to me that Lois was little older than Clark anyway. She's already a top reporter when Clark gets to Metropolis. As a journalist I know reporters don't start at the top on the news desk of big city papers. They start at small newspapers and work their way up, or they start in the obits section and work their way up. It doesn't happen overnight, so I can see Lois being a little older than Clark. It doesn't matter though because Adams is and looks young. Even if she didn't I wouldn't care because she's a tremendous actress. That's what is most important. She's an absolute great casting choice.
