More Concept Art from GREEN LANTERN

Earlier in the week, the GreenLanternCorps forums offered up images which look to be the first bit of character design concept art leaked from the 'Green Lantern' movie.

Now they've offered up two more pieces of artwork, depicting the Guardians of the Universe (the little blue guys who are the architects behind the GL Corps) and Sinestro, Hal Jordan's mentor-turned-bad guy.

We still have no official confirmation that these images do, in fact, represent work done on the 'Green Lantern' movie. However, the Sinestro image does reveal one interesting big of info. There's a visible signature in the lower right corner of the image, and while it's nearly unreadable in the low-res pic, it does appear to be the mark of one E.J. Krisor. Krisor (who designed the looks of Venom and Sandman in 'Spider-Man 3') is known to be the concept/character illustrator on 'Green Lantern'.

Here are the latest images:

The film is directed by Sylvain White and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Jason Patric and Columbus Short as a team of special ops agents discarded by their government handlers and out for revenge.

And now, here's the ET teaser:

I like the direction of the sketches for GL, but think Sinestro looks a little rough and the Guardians faces are a bit off. Still can't wait for it though I am getting really excited. The Losers looks good too and I can't wait for Absolute Justice.

I'm encouraged by the alleged artwork for GL we've seen thus far.  Though it is pretty much just concept artwork at this point though, I suspect the end result ends up looking even better.  (So perhaps they will fix those Guardians' faces, kwsupes!)

silversurfer 1/29/2010 8:45:06 AM

Even though it's conceptual, they have it dialed in! It looks good, and at least they have an idea of where they want to go with it. I actually like the way their going with the Guardians....hope it doesn't change too much. It's good to know that they have fanboys working on it, and they don't want it to suck (obviously), why else would you post concept art? So you can get some reactions....good job.

Daniel Craig is not a bad choice, it may have them to rethink some of the action scenes because he's more physical? It could work.

fft5305 1/29/2010 8:57:05 AM

I like the GL artwork we've seen so far.  Even if it's a little different than the classic look, I think it still captures the essence pretty well.  Kilowog still looks good, even if the color's different.  The Guardians don't have to look identical to the comics.  As long as they keep them little and blue.

Haven't seen or heard too much on The Losers yet.  Doesn't sound overly original, but I like the cast, so we'll see.

Can't wait for Kickass!! Can't wait for Scott Pilgrim!!

Green Lantern: I agree with kwsupes that the Guardians faces aren't quite right. I remain sceptical on this movie WB has shown they trouble getting comic book movies right ( except batman of course). I hope they get it right though I am a Green Lantern fan.

The Losers looks like it might be pretty cool.

Absolute Justice will absolutely be awesome, Geoff Johns writing nuff said.

I can't wait to start seeing stuff from Thor, I really think it's going to be cool movie.

Is it just me or does Jeffrey Dean Morgan look a lot like Javier Bardem?  Thought it was him at first.

kaimudgeon 1/29/2010 1:31:04 PM

Green Lantern looks friggin' sweet! If these are just concept images, they're going to make it truly epic! I'll wait in line for it.

Is it me or does the Sinestro concept art look A LOT like Travolta from Battlefield Earth?

dragon261 1/29/2010 2:03:36 PM

Sinestro looks kind of like a Klingon to me.

fatpantz 1/29/2010 10:06:32 PM

Loved the comics for The Losers....movie looks like it might be alright...maybe not as gritty as the book, but entertaining nontheless.  Not the biggest fan of Chris Evans, but he actually seems perfect as Jensen...I will take back all I said about him being cast in that role.  Also Oscar Jaenada looks perfect as Cougar.  I will def cathc it in the theatres...
