For me, this was one of the best episode of this year, if not the best. I liked the pasted, the mysteries and answers, and it's Hugo, what's not to love?

Ya, Ilana left me with the first holy F moment of the night. Locke getting run down was #2.
I felt bad for poor Hurley and his grave visit. I even felt a little sad that his romance is still a bit insane. But it was fantastic to see him finally get his date...i'm just glad they seemed to have remembered everything this time and Libby didn't have to go get shot.
I'd pay good good good money to see at the start of next week if Vincent comes running up to someone at the well and we are treated with the dialogue "what's that vincent?? desmond fell down a well??"
It was nice to see Jack finally have a little faith in someone else, especially Hurley. At the same time, after having just recently pointing out that he had promised to get Sun off the island....treking over to visit the Smoke monster doesn't seem like the soundest plan....but..have a little faith right?
Island as purgatory or just haunted? I think it's haunted. A place doesn't have to be purgatory to have ghosts. With the electro-magnetic issues on the island, maybe it's like a ghost trap. (It's all very scientific, you see... just watch the TAPs crew. ahem.)
Hurley and women: Hugo doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would go for DB women. The types who throw themselves at millionaires. And, I think he said he has trouble talking around them, so that would make the nice girls back off - thinking he's just not interested.
Michael: I was afraid he was one of the bad guys. A manifestation of the smock monster. Or just a bad ghost. Who says ghosts have to be good? And where is Walt?
Desmond and Locke: Desmond is not a candidate, right? So, he can be killed? Why did Locke throw him down a well instead of killing him? Why did Desmond run over Locke - because I assume that's the real Locke. Maybe Desmond doesn't know that Locke is the smoke monster. He came late to the game, and his above-it-all calm may just be because he's aware of 2 worlds and not aware of everything.
The lost boys: There was a younger blonde boy, and this new dark-haired boy looked a little like Peter Pan. Are they younger versions of people we know. Younger versions of Jacob and the MiB?
X, that was funny.
We better get to know what happened to Vincent!
Wait you may be on to something if we see Vincent in the SLU/mirror would that make a Dog a God?
Great episode. With only 5 left I'm sure they'll all be.
I'm with you Nell on hte ghosts just being trapped there. It's like a giant ghostbusters containment chamber. And speaking of douches and ghostbusters, Arthur Peck has to be high on the list of movie douche bags.
As far as Micheal goes, I think he's just trying to redeem himself like he was when he died. I think Hurley knows he's truly sorry and that is why he listened to him about stopping the plane from being blown up.
I think the boy Smlocke saw this episode is the same boy he saw ealier. He is just growing up fast. I keep thinking it might be Jacob but I don't really have any reasons for it.
Looks like Desmond is going to be popping in everyone's SLU until the end now and that is awesome. Ilana blowing up was definitely a holy shite moment but I saw Des running him over as soon as I saw him watcing him. Locke is already in love so Des couldn't use that to "wake" him up. So he used Charlies tactic of giving him a near death experience. I definitely think it also served the purpose of eventually bringing Locke to get saved by Jack.
I wonder how Desmond is going to "wake" up the rest of the crew? Will Sawyer meet Juliet or will his run in with Kate facilitiate a wake up? I kinda hope not because I still think her true love is Jack and Sawyer's is Juliet. So will Kate meet with Jack somehow? I'm gonna make a wild guess right now. People have speculated Jack's ex is Juliet. I bet she still works with him in the hospital. Locke will be brought to them. Sawyer will somehow have to go to investigate the hit and run thus meeting Juliet. And Jack will somehow run into Kate while she's with Sawyer. Could be a long shot but it could happen.
xpalaidn, Vincent being Lassie would be awesome!
Without planning it, I found myself jotting notes during Lost commercial breaks. I've never done that before (although I do sometimes text my niece, who is also a fan of the show). I could speculate here about what mysterious forces drove me to do this, but I'll stick to the notes themselves:
Kara and MrJaw already have me updating that last note based on the comments they posted on last week's review. . .
Desmond's SLU mission seems almost certainly to be to get everyone who was on Oceanic 815 to remember the island. (What that will achieve is a mystery for now.) For many, he can use their true love to trigger the island memories. But Locke's true love wasn't on the island, so that won't work for him. What will?
Will Desmond's hit-and-run alone allow Locke to get up and walk, triggering an island memory for Locke? (If so, how did Des know he could make that happen?) Will Locke be taken to Jack's hospital, and Jack will restore his legs with memory-triggering results? (If so, will Des have to help guide these events?) Or is it just the accident itself, the near-death experience, that will help Locke remember?
Here's a catch: People who have died (Charlie and Libby in this case) have shown a tendency to remember the island more easily, even without any help. Why didn't that happen for Locke? Did dying off the island make the difference?
I root for SLU Locke to become SLU Desmond's helper in his mission. A second chance for Locke to get the "find 'em and bring 'em back to the island" thing right.
So, will SLU Des visit Widmore again, to get him to "remember" and send a team to raise the sunken island? Or is simply getting everyone to remember enough to "overthrow" the SLU, figuratively "raising the island"?
Stopped reading mid-review to add this thought:
Hurley's blind date didn't show up because Desmond ran her over :^)
This season has been pretty consistant, but has done what they have done from the beginning and not really answer a whole lot. At least not quickly. This is nice for me, but my wife is going crazy lol.
Hugo has always been one of my favorites so it was nice to see the opposite factor of everyone loving Hugo instead of everyone hating Hugo. I too am a little concerned that not all ghosts are good, but for the most part if I remember correctly all ghosts have been there to help Hugo. And Michael did seem truly sorry for what he did to Libby, but that doesn't mean anything.
Desmond has me a little concerned. Does he really know that SMLocke isn't the real Locke? If he does then I think his running Locke over was to get him to the brink of death like he and Charlie did, so that he gets a glimpse of the other life. But it will be interesting because they will probably play off of Jack being the operating doctor on Locke, just as Jack and SMLocke share dialogue on the island.
My ideal ending has the real Locke merging from the parallel universe with the island universe and helping defeat Smoke Monster, and then taking over as the true replacement for Jacob. This would be a great way to end his story, otherwise he will be considered to have the most tragic story of our time. Someone who just wanted to be special, and was deceived into thinking he was just so someone could use his body. Ultimately never being special at all.
Yeah, the whole time Iliana was handling the backpack of dynamite I kept thinking to myself "That package is going off.." And as soon as they cut to a wide shot of her, I said BOOM, and so it was.
I have a feeling that Desmond is the Island's lodestone now.. I believe Locke sealed his own doom, and that's exactly what Whidmore was planning. Desmond, being a living magnet, is going to somehow permanenty seal the island. And then when I saw Desomond scoping Locke at the school, I just kept thinking "Payback's a bitch.." heh..
Oh, and perfect teaser song for next episode, I have to say..
Hmmmm I think his answer of "John Locke" may be a little bit more than just a lie.
I to was shocked as hell about Ilana's fate. I had to replay it a couple of times.
I don't think it's a stretch to believe that rich Hurley isn't getting any strange. He's always been portrayed as having serious self image problems. There are just people that would never try asking someone out or just try to hook up cause they make it such a horrible ordeal in their head. It's easier for them to believe that they don't need to.
