LOST To Air Without Repeats

By: Karl Schneider
Date: Thursday, May 18, 2006
Source: ABC

Much like popular shows 24 and Battlestar Galactica, Lost will be airing without repeats next season.

The network confirmed the good news yesterday. To accomplish this, the show will take a break over Christmas for a few weeks. It will then begin again and run uninterrupted until the season ends in May.

"The plan is that Lost will come on in the Fall in the first or second week of the season, run for seven episodes and then "Day Break" will launch into that period and Lost will come back in January or early February and run straight through for the remainder for the season".

Reports also added that no new cast members will be climbing aboard the island next year.

but apparantly Invasion ended its run on a very sad cliffhanger ending that will now unfortunatly never be resolved... d'ohh.

R.I.P. Invasion - you will be missed.

I still think "Lost" needs to be run straight through from January to May like "24" currently does. People are still gonna whine and moan about the big gap between the two groups of episodes. Although I admit it's an improvement over the more haphazard schedule of the past two seasons.

I'll miss "Invasion" too, although hopefully CW will decide to pick it up.

It's an improvement over this season, but still. Instead of showing seven episdoes in the fall, then taking a break, why not just delay the beginning and run straight through? Argh!

It also has to be Good again for it to matter.

HALLELUJAH!!!!

Mid-season repeats are fine for a show that isn't serialized, but they really interfere with the momentum of a show like "Lost". While a straight run of new episodes from Jan-May would be nice, I'm OK with this arrangement. It allows for a mid-season cliffhanger that could increase the excitement of the show. This was a good call by ABC.

They have to take the breaks - so they can figure out where the heck the show is going to go.

I don't like this.

In the above picture, Kate is telling Jack that she isn't really "on the pill" like she said.

What is "Day Break"?

I don't think it's enough to save the show. I expect the third season to be it's last, and they will come back for a film, or a Tv movie to resolve whatever storylines are left hanging. The show is going NOWHERE.
