Having read all the books, I have no problems with the changes they have made to the show. The net result will be the same. Martin has let the producers know how it's going to end and where the major characters will ultimately end up. I'm enjoying finally to see a solid well done fantasy series. We've had excellent Sci-Fi but fantasy series, not so much.
Minor Spoiler Alert
Enjoy the ride because next year when RW hits it's going to be harder then the book for most people to take then what happened to Ned.
I thought this was one of the best episode of the series since Baelor. There was so much character developement! I could watch the verbal sparring between Arya and Tywin all day, it was so riviting. Jon's direction is a real compression of what happened in the books as well as most of the characters, that goes without saying, but the core of what happened in the books is still there. Finally we get a nice exposition about people beyond the wall, they are not the real enemy despite what the seven kingdoms thinks. I like how they have re-arranged Danny's story putting her in much more immediate danger then was in the books, most of that story line seemed rather implausible and rather boring in the books. Agree with everyone that i cannot wait till she gets to the house. Theron's storyline is freaking awesome and scary how quickly he has fallen. The actor has managed to portray a very conflicted mess of a human trying to appease everyone but himself. Jamie's scene was wonderfully done. Nick could talk all day in a cage covered in shit and I would love it. I approve the changes from the books and look forward to more. To summarize this episode dug deep into well written expositions about who we are and the conventions/trappings of what is expected of you from society. Jamie is the only one who knows who and what he is in this world. Solid A.
Nice update mania! Hopefully this will unfold this way... but don't forget Jackson has been touting a S.H.I.E.L.D. only movie on the horizon.
This looks much better then I could have imagined. Spidey back to his roots.
This is an awesome show. I love every minute of it and when it's over i'm like... damn another week to wait.
I loved all of the new BSG. Caprica started out interesting then moved way too slow. For movies, I loved Razor and was disappointed with "The Plan". Now to see a cool trailer then find out that it's not going anywhere... BOOO!!!
Breaking the Lost record would be something. I had that page bookmarked for over a year lol good times.
Well, I also watched this as a kid (I was very small). This along with Dr. Who and Star Trek shaped my later years (Horror, Sci-Fi and Fantasy). Since this was one of my founding joy's I was hoping for a faithful adaptation of it.... a real horror film not the shlock that tries to pass itself off as horror but is really only gore and (cue music) jump shock crap. I will see it (Depp/Burton combo is hard to beat) but, I was hoping for something more sinister.
I'm going in with low expectations but... looks kinda fun.

This is awesome!
