Within moments of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, it certainly seemed as if there was a possibility that Shia LaBeouf's character might end up leading a spin-off series sometime in the near future. The speculation has been out there but in an interview with Newsweek, executive producer George Lucas has shot down that possibility.

"He is Indiana Jones," Lucas said of (Harrison) Ford. "If Indiana Jones wasn't in it, you'd have to call it 'Mutt Williams and the search for Elvis.' ... "Yeah, it's 'Mutt Williams and the Search for Elvis.'"

As far as continuing the franchise with Harrison Ford, Lucas repeated what he said last week. It would all depend on coming up with the right story to attract the big three (Spielberg, Ford and Lucas) to reunite for a fifth adventure.

Is Lucas still yappin'? Good God he don't shut up lately.

I was so disappointed with Indy IV and the whole sci-fi alien thing. After reading the Complete Making of Indiana Jones (J.W. Rinzier's latest book), I think we can officially thank Lucas for running the franchise into the ground. He was set on the whole 1950's sci-fi alien thing back in 1992 when Harrison Ford did his cameo for The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Ford was like..."no way."

Over the years, he stuck with this idea despite repeated attempts by Ford and Spielberg to try and convince him to change his mind, but he wouldn't. Spielberg and Ford apparently got tired of waiting for Lucas to come to his senses and gave in and the result was Indy IV.

Lucas seriously needs to be stopped!

Man people do hate on the Sci-Fi angle. That's the one aspect I could appreciate. Commies and UFO's were what the 50's were all about. I'd have thought that would have been right up Spielberg's alley. Indy IV has a lot of problems but I personally didn't think that was one of them.

But Lucas does need to be stopped.

Just stop it Lucas, just stop it!

The Olympics is on like Donkey Kong!!!

Yea, seriously, they were right to work the sci fi angle. Maybe not show actual aliens and ufo thoughs. He could've just searched for an extraterrestial artifact and that's it.

You know what, I'm tired of all the Lucas hating by people!

Like any one of us could do any better in writing the story or coming up with the idea. Like joey said, the 50's were all about the Russians and the aliens.

And you know what? George Lucas gave us arguably the most memorable trilogy of all time, and truly paved the way for what a summer blockbuster action movie was.

I was there opening day for the reissues, I was there opening day for the TPM, AOTC, ROTS. And I may even go see the Clone Wars opening day, who knows?

Indy IV was still kick ass. Who f'in cares if Indy jumps in a fridge?!?! It was pretty damn cool and no one can argue that. I didn't realize Indiana Jones had to be rooted 100% in reality, or does ripping a guys' heart of out his chest while it's still beating, melting off Nazi faces, or finding a 1000 year old Templar Knight count as "reality" these days?

And considering he just said that Shia won't be Indy, which all you whiners bitched about when the idea was first thought of, I'd say you all need to sit the f down and shut the f up, cause he just confirmed that's not so.

But I'm sick and tired of people ripping on George about how he's destroyed things. You all went and paid to see Indy. If you hate him that much, don't go pay for it. You're like people who need a reason to be offended, so you find something to be offended by.

Don't watch it you hate him. But if you do watch, have a coke and a smile and be cool

And another thing!

How the hell do you say a movie that's made 3/4 of a billion dollars worldwide has "been run into the ground?"

And no disrespect to Mr. Ford or Mr. Spielberg, but no one twisted their arm to do it. And considering how Indy was George's idea, well, shouldn't he have the right to say this is the story I want to go with?

You turds

I take it movieguy loves boy george? not quite sure.

joeybaloney • Aug 08, 2008, 12:44pm •
Where were the other fridges TMG28? Where were the other fridges? If Indy walked out of his fridge into a sea of other fridges I could have bought into it :P

I was there opening day for all the ones you mentioned but I am now officially a hater and have no desire to see Clone Wars in the theater. He can't write and that's that. What should have been one of the most important aspects of Indy IV is the relationship and banter between Indy and Marion. And it S U C K E D. Worse than the relationship between Anakin and Padme. . He did, in fact, create a great product with A New Hope and I am grateful for that cuz it has given me lots of joy over the years, but at this point, just as many heartaches. Lucas is a smug turd who is past his prime and it is time to let go and pass the reigns IMHO.

People...you need to stop all the hating!!! First let me say that I haven't seen Indy's latest adventure...so I'm not saying it was good or not(everybody has different opinions anyway). But it has made over $500 million despite all the shit that people said. Now...some of you say that Lucas should stop, that he's destroying the legacy, blah, blah, blah. I agree that what isn't broke shouldn't be fixed, but at the same time can any of you truly say that if you were in Lucas shoes you, you wouldn't try to cash in by making another sequel? Stop the hypocrisy...all of you would do the same. Also stop saying the franchise is ruined! The original trilogy have not, and will not change at all...no matter how bad the 4th movie is. So stop being so melodramatic and quit acting like a bunch of dumb bitches!!!
