Ludlum's PROTOCOL Getting Adapted by Universal

After scoring a major success with Robert Ludlum's Bourne novels, it's easy to see why Universal Pictures is now fast-tracking another work of the late authors. Variety reports the studio is putting an adaptation of his The Sigma Protocol on the front burner and has Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway penning the screenplay of the 2001 novel. Strike Entertainment partners Marc Abraham and Eric Newman are set to produce the film with Paul L. Sandberg.

Plot Concept: "The Sigma Protocol" revolves around a young investment banker who discovers a secret organization that has been manipulating the global economy. When the banker tries to expose the scheme, he's targeted for death.

Haven't read the book but this Tom Clancy wannabe (is he better than Clancy because of Boune?) seems to have a good story here. I likes the spy thriller thing or the regular guy forced to do the spy thriller thing. Sounds good.

Actually Clancy is a Ludlum wannabe...Ludlum was before Clancy and he's dead now. Thanks to the Bourne movies they are making more of his books into movies. Granted the Bourne movies were different than the books. Well, I can only comment on one book I read the first Bourne and its dated but I was told the other two didn't follow his books that well either. Which is typical of Hollywood. I'm sure his surviving family is happy to getting that money.

I would much rather see them adapt The Prometheus Deception. It's a pretty good read if you haven't read it yet. A lot of relevance to things that are happening within America these days.
