Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master's Guide Review (Article) - 1/5/2015 5:58:59 AM

This is my 6th (7th? 2nd edition may have had two.) DMG and I think it is by far the best of the bunch.  Unlike the early editions which mirrored the PHB but with all that secret information the players weren't supposed to know, this (and actually the 4e version) is a book unto itself.

Having played through the playtest and jumped in with Hoard of the Dragon Queen, I'm really enjoying the ease of play and flexibility of 5e.  My players are liking it too.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: The Things We Bury Review (Article) - 11/20/2014 12:46:15 PM

Fantastic episode.  I've been telling everyone I know who poo-poo-ed the series after a couple of episodes that it has turned itself around and they should watch again.  So, you're welcome ABC.  It also helps that AoS is streaming on Netflix now.  That makes it even more easily accessible.

I believe the Doctor knows who killed his wife.  The look he gave Whitehall at the end was full of "I've got you now, sucker".

Doctor Who: Death in Heaven Review (Article) - 11/10/2014 1:20:43 PM

I liked this episode, and most of the season, unlike quite a few of my Whovian friends.  I'm eager to see where we go from here.  Oh, yeah.  It's to the North Pole.

Too bad about Osgood.  I thought she'd make a good companion if only for the Christmas Special.  With the ease with which the Master was dealt with (not by the Doctor, btw, but by the Cyberman equivalent of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart who had just saved his daughter), there may be a loophole (there always is) where she, and possibly Osgood, could return.

NOW YOU SEE ME 2 - Casting Announcements (Article) - 11/4/2014 2:25:55 PM

Cool.  I liked the first one.

Doctor Strange is Benedict Cumberbatch! (Article) - 10/27/2014 1:24:51 PM

By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth, this is good news.  Now let the negotiations continue frutifully.

Perhaps Keanu will play Baron Mordo.  He has the beard for it right now.

I just hope this doesn't delay series 4 of Sherlock.

Arrow: Corto Maltese Review (Article) - 10/26/2014 10:45:19 AM

Great episode.  I'm thinking Shaw will turn up again at some point.  I like the addition of Wildcat.  I remember seeing a reference to him in an earlier episode, I think the season premier.  When the team was defusing the explosives during the boxing match, one of the fighter's ring crew were from the Wildcat Gym.

Did anyone else notice the project name on the blueprints Palmer was looking at at the end of the episode was O.M.A.C.?  Interesting.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: A Hen in the Wolf House Review (Article) - 10/23/2014 11:42:52 AM

Oh,and I watch NCIS and NCIS New Orleans along with MAoS, Arrow, The Flash, Grimm, Gotham, Sleepy Hollow and most other genre shows on cable and pay cable. Thank you DVR. I don't feel that old.  We need to see the DVR adjusted ratings to see how the show is really doing.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: A Hen in the Wolf House Review (Article) - 10/23/2014 11:38:19 AM

Great episode with lots of seeds for the future.  I liked Bobbi Morse.  Maybe the reason her and Hunter's marriage broke up was because of her and Hawkeye working/getting together.

What/who the hell is the Doctor?  Brutal, that's what he is.

I really wish the people who abandoned this before CATWS came out would come back and see how good it's become.  Would be a shame for the show to improve with every episode but the ratings keep it from being renewed for a 3rd season.

The Flash: Things You Can't Outrun Review (Article) - 10/22/2014 1:55:39 PM

I thought it was a really good episode.  Some good back story on the supporting cast.

I liked the villian.  Good effects for a TV series, as every episode has shown.  I'm glad to say, TJ, that I'm not as geeky as you.  I figured he was an actual villain from the comics, but didn't realize he was a Starman foe.

I'm really liking the energy and feel of the series so far.  I do agree with the name thing.  I swear someone called him "The Flash" besides Wells but I can't remember who.

Castle: Clear & Present Danger Review (Article) - 10/14/2014 10:54:52 AM

I'm not sure it is the last season.

“I never declared Season 7 as the final season,” Andrew Marlowe corrected. “What I said is that there’s an organic ending in the show and the characters will tell me when that is. I listen to the characters, and there’s going to be a point where we’ve had the best storytelling that these characters can give us.” And in Marlowe’s mind right now, in the midst of Season 6, he says, Rick and Kate’s story “can take 10 to 12 years if everybody wants to.”

At least I hope it isn't.
