M2M Still Outdistances FINAL DESTINATION

There were few surprises when the final figures were released for this weekend's box office performance. In the #2 position behind ERIN BROCKOVICH, MISSION TO MARS remained the top genre film, earning $11.39-million for a cume of $40.61-million. FINAL DESTINATION arrived in 3rd place with $10.01-million. THE NINTH GATE fell to 5th place with $3.53-million, bringing its total to $12.53-million. AMERICAN BEAUTY was in 7th with $3.16-million, pushing the total to $103.01-million. In 10th was THE TIGGER MOVIE with $1.77-million, whch brings its total up to $41.60.

Other genre films to earn over $1-million included FANTASIA 2000,which landed in 13th with $1.55-million for a cume of $33.69-million. In 14th, PITCH BLACK earned $1.45-million for a total of $36.48-million. And THE SIXTH SENSE, at #16, added another $1.28-million to its coffers, bringing its grand total to $288.48-million. Also of note, SLEEPY HOLLOW earned an additional $400,168, bringing its total to $99.86-million; the film will easily pass the $100-million mark this week.
