TV Review: REAPER - Cancun - May 23, 2008 - 06:24am
I think Supernatural was the ONLY show (that I watch) that had a good season finale. Someone at work commented that there didn't seem to be as much hype about season finales this year. I wonder if that's still fallout from the writers strike?
Reaper is a great show, I was so glad when I heard they're coming back next season, can't wait til they realease the season on DVD. And I also hope the Succubus is back next season. I think Sock and Ben should make up with her and then send her to go suck the life out of Sara, that way we could see that B get what's coming to her and get a good lesbo kiss scene.
Two thoughts about the Son of Satan thing with Sam: 1) After seeing the dad survive the burial I thought what if the dad is actually the son of the Devil and Sam is the Grandson, that's usually a common thing, the son doesn't live up to dads expectations so he turns to the grandson. Maybe the deal was you can live on Earth but you have to give me a Grandson to take over the family business. 2) Maybe in exchange for giving the Devil a Son, Sam's dad was granted immortality.
CW Gives REAPER Renewal - May 13, 2008 - 05:58am
Awesome News!! This really is a great show. All the main characters are super, lover their interaction with each other. Also love how even though it's a comedy every now and then the Devil gets a serious tone and shows why he's the Devil.
SPEED RACER - May 11, 2008 - 12:15am
Label me what you will, but I just saw it Sat. evening with my son (a Hot Wheels freak, who I've introduced to the original animated Speed Racer, about two months ago.) and I freakin loved it!!!
I agree with you samson7842, "like good friends from the old neighborhood." So much so, that from the first race in the beginning of the film I was getting goose bumps and a little choked up, because being 42, and a fan of the original animated series it was like seeing an old friend still chasing after that dream and hurting from the loss of his brother. I immediately clicked with the character.
Yeah there were a few minor issues we had: when we first saw Sparky my son (11) and I both turned and looked at each other with a goofy Huh??! look on our faces. But by the end of the movie, Sparky is not 16 like he was in the original animated show... so what. Did that keep me from enjoying the movie, helllll no!
All the bright colors? the only problem I had with the bright colors is that the backgrounds kept the cars from being dazzling. But again, eh.
Spritle and Chim Chim in the animated series got on my nerves, but I liked the kid that played Spritle in the movie, and am glad the W. Bros. went with a real chimp for Chim Chim. When I first saw the first trailer and saw he was going to be a real Chimp my anticipation for the movie went down, I generally hate monkeys in movies (unless they're giant and tearing up the city) because it's like the cameras linger too long on the monkey antics – Oh, let's see some more of those whacky monkey antics!! But Chim Chim was handled well, IMO. Spritle said his lines and CC responded and the camera moved on. Even when he was doing the Monkey antics they didn't seem as in your face as most, and were short and to the point enough that I liked them.
When I first saw Racer X I kinda got a knot in my stomach because of the mask and outfit, I thought "That's one of those things that works better drawn than in the flesh." But seeing him in motion, it worked for me. I would have liked to have seen them "go there" with the Inspectors beard, but I can dig this inspector just the same.
And oh, my freakin G. Don't get me started on the cars and they're action. I was lovin every minute of it. It was like the cars were Kung Fu fighting. On the way home I had to stay focused and stop looking for the "A" button on my steering wheel.
Maybe they filled the theater with happy gas, maybe I'm just a $2 whore when it comes to movies, or maybe it's that I don't burn myself out on the trailers. Taking a cue from my co-workers who would come back from a movie and complain, they felt that things that would've wowed them, lost their impact because the saw it in the trailer. I just watch the first and maybe -strong maybe- the second trailer and that's it, I avoid the rest because IMO they show too much in the trailers.
I'll go see Speed Racer again in the theater before I go see Iron Man again (which I loved, and was thrilled it did so well, looking forward to that movie's sequal, and to all the regulars complaining that it sucks)
SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES: What He Beheld - Mar 06, 2008 - 06:01am
I thought "Eh." abouth the bomb thing too, but then again it would have been easier to deal with if it were Derek or Sarah. With a car exploding surely that'll bring cops, firemen, maybe news etc. Witnesses saying they saw a metal girl/thing walking out of the fire. Not to mention Cromartie's radar probably just got a woody.
I do appreciate the FBI agent "questioning" things like bdd said. When he was first introduced I thought we were going to get a season of him bending down to tie his shoe laces and not seeing Cromartie and Cameron throwing cars at one another. Kinda like Scully always seem to miss that crucial moment cause she was wiping dog poop off her shoe.
BIONIC WOMAN: The List - Nov 09, 2007 - 08:53am
Hey, I don't know if I dozed off or if they just never explained it, but what happened to the party? Last thing I remember is some guy the (yes, annoying) sister liked (I guess) coming in with another girl then about 30 people following in behind him. Sis looking like "who are all these people?" Then seeing her leaving to get in the car and go to jail.
Did she kick everybody out, then get in the car? Did she leave with the party still going on? Did Jonas get her out, chase everyone away then help her clean up?
I think that Psychiatrist lady would've been a better Jaime. She seems more interesting to me than Ryan.
HEROES: The Line - Nov 01, 2007 - 08:05am
I enjoyed this episode. IMO Claires storyline is just developing her love/trust in this guy who is going to be, like ponyboy said, a future Magneto character. I'm guessing he's the one that killed Hiro's dad. I do hope the writers give us a good chase/fight scene between Claires boy and Nathan or Peter.
EUREKA: Unpredictable - Jul 26, 2007 - 08:49am
I agree with the reviewer, the moment I saw the ex, my mind flashed back to when it was being explained to Jack how the place is hidden. Wasn't it complete with a hologram of a destroyed bridge?
My only other thing is I would be fine with the ex taking the daughter. I've never really cared for the whole teenage-angst thing. Must be a different culture different generation thing... my parents would have never let me get away with talking back to them the way hollywood always has kids talking to their parents. I guess I'm in for some long talks with Child Protection Services when my kids get older.
Seth Rogen As The GREEN HORNET? - Jul 20, 2007 - 08:10am
I thought this was already "in the works" and that they were looking at Jet Li to play Kato.
Script Review of HELLBOY 2 - Jul 05, 2007 - 08:07am
Yeah, I hear ya! Some coworkers and I decided after seeing Superman returns, that if it was something we know we're going to go see, then we don't read any of the articles about it or watch any of the trailers (maybe just the first teaser trailer.) They show so much these days with trailers it takes away from many of the wow factors and surprises.
Even got my kids trained to jump in front of the tv or grab the remote and change the channel if a trailer comes on.
FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER - Jun 15, 2007 - 03:05am
I just saw the midnight showing and it may be my "geek-woody" talking (seeing the Surfer in a movie) but I enjoyed it. There were some liberties/adjustments they made to Surfer that I didn't like but I realize they needed to tone him down otherwise they (FF) wouldn't be able to touch him in the time frame of a movie.
I was surprised to see the number of people in the theater, a lot of them seemed to genuinely laugh at the jokes and enjoy the action. And they all seemed pretty enthusiastic about the Surfer. Making me think "wow, maybe the spinoff news (I read here) will actually make it to production and have an audience."
Looking forward.
