If it's as good as The Road Warrior then do it but too bad we wont see any of the old school V8 intercepters. I guess Worthington would be Max?

Pre-production is scheduled to begin this week on Mad Max: Fury Road, the fourth installment from director George Miller. Aussie news site, ABC.au, confirms early rumors that Charlize Theron's name is being considered to for the female lead while both Tom Hardy (RocknRolla) and fellow Aussie Sam Worthington also have been mentioned as possibles for the male part.
Filming is currently scheduled to begin August 2010 and the film's budget is expected to be around $100 million. It's expected to shoot in New South Wales and Sydney, with production likely to take two and a half years before its ready for a theatrical release.
These announcements came via a press conference with director Miller, who also showed the local press some of the cars that will be featured in the next film. Check it out in the video player below.

I think this will be a prequel addressing the time gap between the end of Mad Max and the begining of the Road Warrior franchise. Meaning this will be a bridge between the two films showing the evolution of Mad Max into the Road Warrior. If it is i'd be more that cool with that.
So Mel isn't going to be Max? Then what's the point? I'm not some huge Gibson fan, but c'mon, he IS Mad Max!
I'm not a huge Gibson fan either but without Mel as Max I have no interests in seeing this movie.
Miller hasn't ruled out Gibson yet. I forgot where I was reading about all it this past weekend but he wouldn't confirm nor deny Gibson would be back. If its in fact a sequel with that kind of budget I would be surprised if Mel didn't return. Thats a nice 20 mil dollar paycheck for him I'm sure. If you remember Miller was going to shoot this movie with Mel in the Middle East but the War changed all that. Unless he's changed the script, Mad Max was in it.
Miller didn't mention anything about a prequel and I've never read anywhere that Miller said it was going to be a prequel. Where did you get that info dragon?
I got the impression Miller was just happy he got the greenlight for that kind of budget and was going to work out the casting details later.
Geez 2 1/2 years? Not sure why its going to take 2 1/2 years to produce this movie. I mean i can understand why some movies are in production for long periods of time..like AVATAR. But a Mad Max movie seems pretty cut and dry. But maybe they are going to soemthing different here. Either way i liked the mad max movies (for the most part), Looking forward to seeing who they cast and some production shots. Just hope that they arent going to make Mad Max a girl (1000% lame idea) in this one. If they do im totally checking out....
Worthington's name will be popping up for all roles for the next 6 months
I love Mad Max and I'm definitely down for another, and I can't believe I'm saying this, even without Mel though I'd rather he be in it. Maybe it'll be about the son of Mad Max
Some of those cars look pretty damn cool. I'm wondering if this'll still fly today, Mad Max seems like such a 70's-80s kind of movie
Mel isnt over the Hill yet WTF. If he isn't Cast I pity this movie because it would have been made just for stunts.
Give us a SEQUEL!!!!!
Mad Max doesnt hate Jews like Mel Gibson does. He is a disgrace to the character and does not deserve involvement. Brandon Routh would be perfect.
I am glad it is not CGI like they were thinking. And hopefull the car scenes will be as good as Doomsday.
A remake isnt needed but I would like a story between Mad max and Road Warrior. The Bartertown and desert scenes were boring and draining.I felt like I was watching GHANDI BEGINS or is it GANDHI Begins.
Wasn't production reving up 6-7 years ago? The reving must need a tune up if shooting does not start for a year.
Not a remake then?
